Episode 3: Discover how to put together the throughline, or main idea that acts as a connective thread or roadmap for your presentation. -- This is episode 3 of the animated series, Public Speaking 101. Ideas change everything and since language lets us share our ideas, learning how to use it well gives speakers the power to inspire people and even change how they think. This 11-episode course will teach you how to identify, develop, and share your best ideas, while mastering essential communication skills along the way. Directed by Tolga Yldz, Kozmonot Animation Studio. The TED-Ed Student Talks program provides free, customizable activities for educators to support their students in identifying, developing and sharing their ideas with each other and the world. Thanks for this video and for sharing this method and advice to prepare a talk. For many times i had had troubles for communicating my ideas and toughts clearly and correctly, the idea is clearly on my mind but, when i try to explain it the words are missing. I think for having more success when communicating our ideas we also have to prepare ourselves with skills like control our nervous, the anxiety when talking, and also to develop good habits such reading, writting and of course speaking with people, because that make you practice, and the only way to become an expert of any skill is to practice a lot.

I wish I had seen this years ago. For the longest time, I struggled with organizing my thoughts when speaking. I’d have good ideas, but they’d get lost in the delivery. This video helped me realize that a clear throughline is what brings it all together. It’s like a mental map not just for the audience, but for the speaker too. I just rewatched it twice, took notes, and now I’m rewriting my talk with total confidence. THIS is how you teach communication. Hats off to the creators.

If you’ve been wondering why you’re not feeling as strong, motivated, or sharp as you used to, Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks might just have the answers. The book focuses on the power of testosterone and how increasing it can seriously transform your health and mindset. If you’re tired of feeling drained or out of balance, this book offers some solid advice on how to get back to your peak

not gonna lie, i felt numb for months. like i was just surviving, not really living. then someone dropped Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks in a yt comment and i gave it a shot. bro this book gave me my edge back. not by yelling at me to hustle, but by showing me how to fix my foundation. life hits different now.

not gonna lie, for the first half of this video i thought it was gonna be about like. one on one conversations. And I was like this is exactly what I need! and then I was like wait, you need to have a plan When i figured out it was for a professional setting I was so disappointed lol. Still a great video!

Tried all the hacks. ice baths, preworkouts, even dopamine detoxes. none of it clicked. I felt so tired everyday. then someone dropped Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks in a comment and I checked it out. been locked in ever since. no hype, just clarity. wild how long I was running on fumes.

I'm trying to say that if logically speaking with all honestly that truthfully and honestly i just want to say that i genuinely can't lie but that its hard to say the but im saying that if i were to you know say that theoretically i would say realistically i just want to say that uhh idk

I really, really struggle with this. I really want to be understood, so I try so hard to communicate all the information, but end up doing the opposite. Which makes me frustrated about not being understood, so I lean into my ineffective habits even harder. People yawn when I'm talking: (

I am just preparing for one of the most important talks that I’ve ever had, on (for most people) very boring but important topic. Watching this video gave me idea for throughline and in 5 min I completely reinvented my talk and made it actually interesting. Thanx!

One thing i've frequently experienced is being unable to voice my ideas. Like i feel like wat i have in mind and what i actually end up saying are different. and people end up misinterpreting my words. Thanks, because this video will improve it

Thinking one thing and having something similar but also different comes out of my mouth that changed the conversation in awkward directions is one of the most frustrating experience I had. I'm still ruminate on it from time to time.
reply

I'm all for communicating clearly. However, the examples used by the speaker to show the difference do not work(the ones that should be clearer are NOT. There is nothing new here except a buzzword(Throughline.

I'm trying to say you're not the good guy in this timeline. You're drip-feeding the desperate starving low-IQ and unproductive audience, for money, you are not like us.
(how's that for getting my point across)

Ironic you reference brevity (6: 32) but fail to be concise in this video. As a trained communications specialist, I felt there were some strong points here, but could benefit from being more concise.

Watching this video made me realize why I love ted-ed the first place. Education, fun and complex topic being squashed down to mini-bites that our brain can digest. Simply lovely. Less can be more.

Clear communication really is an overlooked superpower! Loved the breakdown on structuring your message I make short fact-based videos on bodymind health and clarity is always the core
reply

The way you explain the throughline makes it so much clearer why having a strong main idea matters. Excited to keep learning how to craft presentations that really connect with people.

Am i trippin or this is a reupload Because i swear i saw this vid a few days ago
Edit: oh it was a different vid 2 weeks ago: what makes an idea good. Almost the same animation style

reply

ted-ed has been uploading videos for a long time, and it has surprisingly always kept the animation quality to it's original high quality standard, or even better, improved it.

Is through line also usable for answering questions in exam like as in written form, more importantly how do I communicate properly in social media or chat with my friends
