Why didn't Rome Conquer Germania?

Why didn't Rome Conquer Germania? The video leaves out how it wasnt very profitable for the romans to take. There werent many villages in the north and Romans liked to tax to get income from places they ruled and there wasnt much surplus of food like in other regions.
The economic side is also important for empires. They dont just conquer areas for no reason.
Still the Romans did go into Germania after that and had tribes that were allied with them. They just didnt seek to conquer as it wasnt worth it.
Same with Scotland today, there was one general who went far into the land but was recalled by Domitian. We also know Marcus Aurelius was going to annex lands of germanic tribes but Commodus rejected this as they were expensive for the empire to keep hold of.
Expansions reached their peak under Trajan and he even held parts of pathia but not for long after he died. Parthia remained as a rival until it was overthrown by Sassanid Persian dynasty who became the new rivals of rome.
Even the invasion of Britain itself was a risk and expensive. The mistake this video makes is that it places the defeat as the reason when they suffered many defeats before like against Carthage and still emerged on top. If they wanted something, they could get it. The Germanic region was just not like other places they conquered and less organised tribes with far less income to extract from them.
Its not one of those video games where you conquer some territory and make permanent profit from. The real world you can conquer territory and make a loss and it could be a drain on the empire.
This is where we get the myths of Romans couldnt beat Germans which is not true, they were able to win many victories against them after Teutoburg, some people think a victory needs to be more territory.
Emperors who refused to expand have been blamed for the downfall of the empire when they were actually saving money and resources and not stretching the empire too thin. It was big enough already and already stretched thin. They did need to defend it constantly.
Empires need to be maintained and expansion doesnt mean stability. The empire being big also lead to much corruption and many problems were internal and not external.\r\n

Blatant Lies & False History! Let's assume by absurdity that yes! How is it that for hundreds of years nothing scares them, nothing makes them think! On the other hand, we all know about some internal conspiracies that someone is always poisoning and killing kings, and finally a certain miscreant who came from far away, namely Attila, not only does not fight with them face to face, but only harasses them and only thus and after a certain tactic the Empire collapsed. Don't you think it's a bit strange to conquer all of Europe and have an Asian harass you more, coming from the edges of the other world! Just like that: Why, having conquered all of Asia, was it mandatory to completely destroy the Roman Empire in such a shameful way, because in the normal way the Roman Empire was invincible! Why did Attila resort to a cowardly and even more incessant harassment method like the Capital, and was he not satisfied with just conquering Asia! What important business was this with Rome and necessarily settling in the Pannonian Plain! What could be found in this plain? Was there something special in her or not! Because three hundred and something years ago after the fall of Rome, it was still found, but only two hundred centuries ago what could be found! Isn't it good that Attila arrived 1600 years ago, and not earlier, so that he wouldn't discover anyone there, otherwise they would make friends quickly, and that's the only way the luck of the Bolshevist-Fanariote world goes today and yesterday!

My ancestors were from northern most area of present day Germany and these rural people still hate the Romans. Folklore was passed down through the ages of how Romans were the Barbarians, brutal killers and slave takers of women and children of our southern tribes. Our family oath was kill or be killed; all our village and outlying farmers children were taught to fight from 4 years old. Farm implements were used as weapons. Deeply distrustful of outsiders and contact was avoided. In those times all our women and children were guarded and defended by our village menfolk. Deep respect of our women and children was a unwritten law. The most precious resource we had were our people. I still remember my great grandmother reciting tales of how her ancestors made sure children were taught to fight and she was very strong physically and mentally and very tough in her old age. Our northern tribes never bowed down to Rome and our nordic religion of old is still alive in our headspace- it resurfaces when we need it. We don't talk about this. we just have it -. Privately there is still an element of pure joy- in the fact that Rome was spat at and given the heave ho by our ancestors ---

The shameful truth about the Empire: Enraged that they were forbidden to conquer the German world and quickly destroy the first who opposed them, how they passed beyond the first forest, how an earth trap opened and a whole legion suddenly perished. The second century didn't even start well and their Empire fell apart, because a growing terror had settled over Rome and everyone felt an irregularity everywhere that scared them to death, because it was not by chance that it made its appearance and Attila, ending with the last emperor. Historians, for fear of some bizarre and inexplicable things in history, lie to us incessantly!

How come they knew exactly what they had to do every time to win! Only if you know you're winning and miss two or three as if it were incomprehensible, only then do you start to get angry and go to the disco more often! You know nothing about the northern world, but you talk like a broken mill. If they saw that they could not win, they tried to spoil it. And if something scared them extremely, that's the only way they abandoned that world. Stop lying and stop talking if you really don't know anything. Tell your boss to stop bragging about straw texts, because one day his house will catch fire from a simple boiler.

-The conflict ended with approximately 15, 000 Roman casualties and the complete removal of all things Roman east of the Rhine. - Who attests to such a defeat of the Roman Empire and who needs something like this to remain in history! For what! I'm telling you: The irregularity must be covered with whatever is possible as soon as possible, lest the world of ancient Rome be erased from history, somehow for the benefit of the appearance of the ancient Geto-Dacian world! Do you really not realize that you are the right hand of the False History!

For one clever person who reads history is easy to understand the reason why Rome (who was the superpower of the ancient world) didn't conquer Germania. Because they didn't want it and also because they used it as a place for their political games. For example the Varu's disaster was planned. When they wanted they made campaigns there and they did what they wanted. Germanic tribes weren't such a difficult opponent. I didn't observe anyone to come to this conclusion.

Because either you understand the danger that is slowly coming towards you and you are the one who knows what you have to do, not the enemy, and that's the only way you install mines, or if you don't, what you do later will be increasingly ineffective from the start and others will they beat you! What is being discussed here! About the capitulation of the Northern World in favor of Rome long ago!
reply

How arrogant of the Romans, assuming that any -Barbarians- who had been conquered would happily -upgrade- to their occupiers' nationality and culture! Varus, for one, certainly held that belief. to his well-deserved detriment. If you insist on invading the territories of others, at least have the decency to recognize that they will defend their homeland in any way they can.

Short answer:
The land was worthless for growing wine. The romans wanted land that you could grow wine on. Any other land conquered would be strategic. Germania was a worthless woodland forest area, cold aswell. There was hardly anything to conquer, not much of value. People lived in poor wooden houses with their animals inside the house living with them. Not worth it.

Quite simply in Germany there was nothing to get, they had no natural resources, no cities that could be plundered. So the cost benefit factor was very bad. They had conquered alkes up to the ranks and that was a good limit for them, on the other hand there was nothing to be gained otherwise they would certainly have conquered it over time, but it just wasn't worth it.
reply

Germany was too poor and Romans just conquered territories for rich resources. Just after 1850 Germany started to explode as a wealthy country. Even in the medieval age, the Arabs and the Otomans used to say that Germany and Europe were so poor that the only richness they had was slaves, the white Christian slaves to sell in the Asia and Arab world!

I think Rome had lost its Republican ability to not back down in a fight. Rome had gone through worse defeats from Cannae to River Trebia to Carhae. Remember how much Rome lost before Marius reformed the army and defeated the Germans. If Augustus had this same attitude he could have defeated those pesky tribes

Ironic that the empire that invented the whole idea of lining your troops up in a square and marching at the enemy was immediately held back by guerrilla tactics, and yet no one used this to their advantage until long after the invention of guns.

Bedtime stories Tunisia! As they reached a little deeper in the north, they had to take Herodot with them to translate from Hyperborean to Latin that if they destroyed a world they must take it back because the north will never be theirs!

There is a documentary on this called Arminius. Arminius was said to lead all the German tribes aginst Rome, and become King of all the Germsn territory. But he was poisoned and burned alive by his countrymen becsuse of this.
reply

Still nowdays the people in Sachsen are very nationalistic and more connected to their land than in other regions in Germany. That might be the reason why, because Armenius was fighting in their area.

Rome paid tribute to the Goths/Germans just like almost every nation in Europe and Eurasia, whenever Rome failed to pay they sacked Rome. The nonsense they teach nowadays is hilarious.

Germanicus did not only did a gig. - was a conscious decision to not conquer n anex that place. would just be another britania with worse weather. too much to invest n too little to gain

No ten-minute video needed. The answer is simple: Germania was five times the size of Gaul, and Gaul is surrounded by oceans, making transport easy, whereas Germania isn't. The end.

Imagine you just went on and plundered the enemies and gained an amazing reputation only to fall of your horse and die on your way back lmao
