For most of my life I-ve lived within earshot of the Goodwood Motor Circuit, as a kid I used to see heavily disguised prototype cars being tested, I guess the disguise was to stop the press taking photos of new models before they were officially unveiled. I drove past the circuit on my way to work and I well remember it being prepared for the first Revival in 1998, old scruffy buildings were tidied up and given a new coat of paint, temporary grandstands were erected, dirt banks were constructed to improve viewing for those inside and I presume to prevent those on the outside watching for free; the place was transformed. This was my forth visit since the Revival started, it is a much bigger event now, with hundreds of trade stands, a well-known auction house, vintage funfair and a host of food vendors. I-d set off early to enter the site when the gates opened at 7. 30am, even at that early hour most of the trade stands were open, offering souvenirs, car accessories and almost every super car imaginable. Petty girls in attractive fifties skirts preformed dance routines, the Glam Cab girls posed with visitors for photographs, a policeman in 50, s uniform was busily handing out penalty tickets to drivers of the Hot Rods waiting to gain access to the track and in the background the cars I-d come to watch racing were being revved up and tuned ready for racing to commence. For the first race of the day, the -Chichester Cup-, I found a spot on the bank at Madgwick giving a good view of the start line and first bend. The racing was action-packed, featuring cars and motor bikes from the early to mid-1900-s along with track parades. Please join me in this video to watch some of the most exciting vintage racing to be seem anywhere on the planet. The day-s races and results are listed below: Chichester Cup 1st - Peter de la Roche - Lola-Ford Mk2 2nd - Will Mitcham - U2-Ford Mk2 3rd - Chris Drake - Terrier-Ford Mk4 Series 1 Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy Part 2 1st - Michael Dunlop and Steve Plater - MV Augusta 500/3 2nd - Michael Russell and Michael Rutter - Norton Manx 30M 3rd - Peter Bardell and James Haydon - Matchless G50 Richmond Trophy 1st - Ben Mitchell - BRM Type 25 2nd - Miles Griffiths - Lotus-Climax 16 3rd - William Nuthall - Cooper-Bristol Mk2 Brooklands Trophy 1st - Duncan Pittaway and Edward Williams - Frazer Nash TT Replica 2nd - Patrick Blakeney-Edwards and Nick Swift - Frazer Nash Saloon -The Owlett- 3rd - Patrick Blakeney-Edwards and Theo Hunt - Frazer Nash TT Replica RAC TT Celebration 1st - Oliver Bryant and Darren Turner - AC Cobra 2nd - Emanuele Pirro and Frederic Wakeman - Lister-Jaguar Coupe 3rd - Shaun Lynn and Andy Priaulx - AC Cobra Le Mans Coupe St. Mary-s Trophy Part 2 presented by Motul 1st - Bill Shepherd - Ford Thunderbird 2nd - Grant Williams - Jaguar Mk1 3rd - Richard Meaden - Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ti Freddie March Memorial Trophy 1st - David Hart - Maserati 300S 2nd - Steve Brooks - Jaguar D-Type 3rd - Martin Hunt - HWM-Jaguar
