On paper the new -36, 430 BMW 135i xDrive has it all. A brand new 2. 0-litre turbocharged engine that produces more power than any other four-cylinder production motor in BMW-s history. A highly sophisticated new part-time four-wheel drive system that generates enough traction to make your hair fall out. Plus an appealing new design, inside and out, that includes one of the most advanced communication packages ever seen in a small to medium-size car

There is so much cr-p talked about the M140i, mainly by people who never even drove one or owned one. I owned a Shadow edition for over 2 years, the engine and gearbox where better than the M135i however that was pretty much it. The car didn-t come with an LSD, and on greasy roads when it snapped under power at the back, I don-t care who you think you are, you couldn-t catch it. My friend was nearly killed in his when his rear stepped out and it put him into the central reservation at 70mph. Heck, when it was wet, I couldn-t even get it off my drive which is inclined, the wheels would just spin. The M135 xdrive is a just a much better car, the front is very accurate and if you spec it with the adaptive dampers the ride is significantly better than the previous version. Let-s be honest as well, if Steve says it drives well, it drives well. The guy can pedal a car properly. Unlike half the people who produce content on here.

My beautiful last of the line M140i Shadow edition was written off by a goon driving a lorry. My insurance are insisting getting me one of these instead. I think it looks ok to be honest and the inside is nicer apart from the digital display, however I bought the M140 as it was going out of production and I intended to keep it. I just feel gutted, it was such a fantastic car to drive, the noise the power excitement from driving it oh well: -(

The previous generation was ugly in the back and had a dated interior.
Not to forget that all the -purists- in the comment section haven't driven or even seen one!
I really hope the new direction that BMW is going will get rid of all the dumb boys and show offs who ruin the daily traffic for everyone.
The funny fact is that most of them can't drive on a road that isn't completely straight.

I don-t want sophistication in a hot hatch, I want a 2wd car with a manual box that I can throw around corners like a bit of a hooligan, and in the case of the old car, even hang the back end out. The 1- series was always the stand out hot hatch because of the RWD, now it-s a carbon copy of any other hatchback. This car is now EXACTLY the same as the a35, golf r, and s3. BORING

Free World, when it comes to cars it should be, and, we all know, it-s only when you get your own hands on the wheel how a car drives, makes you feel, and it isn-t a fortune to buy either when you consider the performance your getting, so, if your going to comment, try and be fare. -----

This I assume is just an aperitif for when they tune this motor to 400bhp for the M140i, nice little car better than the outgoing ugly model that had more engine the chassis, nice to see them moving on in all areas.

Ok I get the 6cyl was an icon but hardly a nice looking car but come on guys times change and move on, in the wet I honestly don-t think your rwd 6 cyl would see which way this car went or any modern 4wd hot hatch

Im about to take delivery of the 2022 model with its sutle chassis mods. Id like to see someone drive the newer model who has driven this model to just see if the changes have improved the cars handling even more

You say it drinks -way less fuel than the M140i. - Please can you let us know what you averaged in this new car? Bet it-s the same as the B58 averages in the old model. This mode is a huge step back.

Why do people even bother watching this video if you hate the car so much? I actually like it. What BMW had done with their FWD platform is phenomenal, definetly the best handling FWD ever. Go drive it.
