New Toyota Prius review: we test the 'love it or hate it' hybrid

We may not have been big fans of the Prius before, but we are now. There-s lots to admire in the engineering and technology, if not the look of the car. And it-s hard not to be swayed by the numbers - it-s not cheap to buy, but it will be cheap to run. It-s comfortable, refined and easy to live with - and more than just a cabbies- favourite now. I hate exterior look especially the rear which looks like it was pushed up after being hit in the back. The black trim over roof looks terrible when mixed with light-colored exteriors, however black or darker colors tend to hide some of the trim's ugliness. What I dislike about the interior is the cheap plastic WHITE TOILET BOWL look for the center-console-cup holder. As a previous Prius Gen 2 owner with over 300, 000 miles and minimal maintenance, I was set on buying another Prius. I wanted a Prius 3, 4 or prime but opted to buy a Prius 2, since it was the only model on the lot without the white-plastic-center tray. I'm averaging 50 mpg, and the mechanics and drive feels solid; if lucky I'll pull another 300K plus miles on this machine too.

I have a problem with today's hybrid and electric cars. during Project Gemini, astronauts were able to run their spacecraft for at least 4 days with 5 day capacity at 29 vdc while drawing 50 amps. What this meant that they could run maneuvering units, radar, environmental systems, communications and emergency backup subsystems for up to 5 days, continuous draw. In real road equivalency, the entire car should run 720 miles without needing a charge, when totally electric! Remember, this is Project Gemini and this battery system was designed and ready to go in 1964. So, what's the reason we don't have this available today? the batteries were no bigger as size and weight were critical.

This guy needs to understand that poor ''build quality'' doesn't mean ''hard plastic''. The hard plastics are the interior design choices and how they're assembled together is the ''build''. You can say that the interior feels cheap because of the hard plastics but you can't say that its a poor build quality unless you see the plastic falling apart.
Also, why would you leave out the fact that some driving aids come standard in Toyotas?
disclaimer: I don't own a prius. i own a hyundai. I've test driven an older prius and I think no other manufacturer comes close to the efficiency of the prius as you can manage 60+mpg which is impossible in others.

What! This is the best looking Prius ever! It's not just a green eco conscious car for environmentalists snobs. Politically conservative business owners, who create jobs in the private sector and hire people, totally get the business sense of the Prius - you pay more up front to reduce operating costs over the long hall.

My wife and I just purchased a 2016 Prius Package 3 model and have had it just over one month. At age 74 it is our first new car ever and will be our last. We can't get over the mileage average of 62 mpg both city and hwy speeds combined. We are not the tree huger type of people. Just average people. We love our 2016 Prius.

Cheaply built this prat in the video says. No idea. it will outlast pretty much ANY car in the road. Clueless & idiots who do the test drives on them have absolutely zero idea about them. Pretty much the Toyota Lexus drive train & cars are the most reliable around & have been for years.

The haters tend to be right wing types that like sports cars and trucks, just anything powerful. Fuel economy doesn't matter. It will matter when gas takes a serious jump in price in future years. I test drove a Prius recently and am convinced it will be my next vehicle.

That -mix of angles- is to make it just the most aerodynamic car available.
with that been said absolutely love the front, and hate the back.
I have a Prius, and while it is nice that it is green, I'm happier with the average 50 MPG that I get with it.

Elio is the real eco king. If they ever get their shit together and actually deliver them. Yes this can carry more people, but I could buy 4 of the elios for the price of one of these. So I could more I still like this though and it's actually here now.

I'm not a Prius hater but I hate it fully so much, I mean, aren't sports cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Tesla as well, supposed to be aerodynamic as well? are they? Or Is it any other kind of aerodynamics that hybrid cars need or what?
