I'm extremely disappointed. I've been anticipating this new DBX launch for almost a year now waiting to trade in my Range Rover. The lines are vanilla at best. Aston's New CEO Tobias Moers took the safe route borrowing his old companies' guts with his new SUV launch. Tobias must not be a student of the game. He should have asked himself how Akio Toyoda faired with the new Supra and BMW partnership. The Supra costing significantly more than the Z4 with significantly less horsepower and performance than the BMW completely nose-dived. This absolute disaster may bankrupt Aston Martin since their pocketbooks are a bit slimmer than Toyota's, and can't afford a giant blunder like is about to happen. The DBX will have similar customer sentiment, and will most likely cost Tobias his position as Chief in the coming years. Let me explain why such harsh criticism. and you can be the judge. The new DBX has a copy cat last year's AMG engine he pulled from Mercedes. Yes, the company he just left. This makes his decision even worse than not understanding what's under the bonnet in my opinion. It also makes him ignorant to why people actually buy an Aston Martin. It's not for the luxury ride, or resale value, or low maintenance costs Tobias. We buy an Aston Martin for one reason only. When you get behind the wheel it needs to be an exhilarating performing vehicle. The DBX costing near 200K should at a minimum have 750Hp with a sub 3. 5 (0-60) time for her debut. This car will be an absolute disaster selling in the states. For example, The comparable AMG GLC Coupe is almost a second faster 0-60 - (3. 4 seconds) for almost 1/2 the price. The initial comment around the DBX performance is it's sluggish at best. It looks like the absolute leader of the SUV performance pack is the Cayenne Turbo S E- Hybrid Coupe with a 3. 1 (0-60) 670 Hp what you would similar performance out of the DBX is still 30k lower in cost. It's almost unbelievable that Aston Martin would release a vehicle with a 4. 2 (0-60) time with only 542 Hp, and yes. it still costs 30K more than the Porche that's light years ahead of the Aston Martin with its electronics and design. We haven't even touched how the DBX has embarrassed itself launching 2-year-old technology, that doesn't even have working touch screen capability. In addition, if you purchased both models in 2020. The DBX would roughly be worth 30-35% less in resale than the Porche over an average 48-month lease. yikes. Most people who can afford a 200K vehicle are pretty intuitive buyers. Unless they are selling the DBX when folks are half-unconscious coming out of a bar at 2 am. The DBX will be one of the biggest disasters Aston Martin has ever released comparable to competitive market options.

Needs someone more competent than Reichman to give it one final going over, then it could have been awesome. But Reichman's designs have failed Aston and whilst this isn't terrible, it misses the mark for good whereas it should have been great.

The last prayer of a company that once again failed its core market and has ended up making the lollies the current Dumb Buyers at Xroads wanna buy. No Aston won-t disappear: It will be swallowed by Benz for a penny

What are the skidpad numbers? Aston claimed an absolutely insane (for an SUV) 1. 2g in Motor Trend earlier this year. For reference, IIRC even the Urus maxes out at 0. 89g, so 1. 2 would be off this planet.

Aston Martin. -Hey Mercedes look over there- Proceeds to raid parts bins for engines, screens, interface modules, switches, and other various parts. Makes own SUV. Calls it all new. Mercedes. -? -

Great review, but you did get a little bit picky at the end. Its still a driver's car. And a great effort by Aston to build from the bottom up. Hopefully DBX will do well.

If AM bet their future on this, they have absolutely backed themselves into a corner. This segment is already saturated and other than AM branding, this car offers little

What a shame, save Aston Martin for this. A pretend 4x4 in an suv dress. I'll be taking my mates Oscar India v8 out this weekend to get over the shock.
