Ferrari F8 Spider Review - new Ferrari Tributo convertible driven - Autocar

Shot and edited by: Oli Kosbab Present by: Matt Prior The Ferrari F8 Spider is the open-topped variant of Ferrari's latest mid-engined V8 supercar - a cara named after its engine - the F8 Tributo. The 3. 9-litre twin turbocharged V8 that arrived in the Ferrari 488 GTB has won a lot of awards, you see. So when they introduced that car's replacement, they named the car after it. And then, as is Ferrari's way, it took the roof off to make a Spider, and this is it. The F8 Spider still has that 3. 9-litre V8, making 710bhp and 568lb ft of torque, which is good enough to make it go from 0-60mph in 2. 9sec and onto a top speed of 211mph. Which should be plenty, even though this car carries a 70kg penalty over the coupe. But what else, if anything, do you gain by having a roofless version of the F8? Join Autocar's Matt Prior as he tests it on UK roads, and wonders which convertible supercar you should have: the F8 Spider, a McLaren 720S Spider, or a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder?

Great it-s another Ferrari that you can-t actually drive! This is why Porsche is the benchmark for every segment of the sports car world. Ferrari owners don-t daily driver their cars and don-t dare if they hope to recoup any of their money. Which means that you are paying about $100 a mile to drive your F8 in depreciation not counting maintenance, insurance or any other costs.
How can a car that you can-t drive be more responsive given you can-t drive it which is how you learn your cars limits? He gets paid to drive demos so if you are a car reviewer or a billionaire it-s a great choice. If you are well off it-s not! There is a big difference between being well off vs being Uber wealthy! This is a car for the Uber wealthy that don-t care about depreciation in the least bit. That-s a tiny % of the total market for these cars. Most people who own exotics are still working for a living! They are well paid working people but are still working people! They are not living off of their investment portfolio and are still interested in what cars costs and what they are going to be worth in 5 years!
I have never thought about how many miles I-m putting on my GT3RS when I drive it everywhere. My Ferrari buddies have an attack if I suggest a 30 mile drive!

One can see Ferrari are more focused on giving the funnest driving experience rather than the best performing, since lets face it, Porsche and McLaren road cars lately out-perform Ferrari road cars. But who cares! If you are on the road and not the track, you want the funnest experience.

Why did you put the top up? We could hear you just fine and I want to hear the engine! :(. seriously! The entire video is with the top up! Very disappointing! How did you make a Ferrari Spyder review boring? Love you guys, but this is a fail.

Regardless if you test drive a basket full of super cars there is no excuse to act like its a fxxkin Toyota. Maybe respond like your job depends on it. And if you aren't excited about driving this car, start doing funerals.

I'm so sick of this company relying on the founder for clout, I mean what is really new and innovative here? I wouldn't buy this car even if I have billions. Koenigsegg has been ahead of the archaic company.

Ferrari Porsche Lamborghini McLaren. The performance of them all is so high now its becoming more just a matter of personal preference. Cant beat the lambos for style and sound imo
reply

No thank you. 458 still the king. This thing doesn't have soul. It does not make my heart to skip a beat like when the 458 came out. It's sterile.
reply

I'm not even sure that McLaren can legitimately be called an automaker.
I consider it more as a sportscars final assembly/check out plant.

All this car does is make me want to get a NA V10 Midengine car before they are gone as these turbo V8s are so clinical and muted.
reply

Not a fan of the design still think the best looking mid engined V8 Ferrari is the 458 Speciale, 488 Pista closely behind.
