Carroll Shelby reportedly used to place a $100 bill on the dashboard of a Shelby Cobra 427 and told passengers that, if they could reach it under full acceleration, they could keep it. So we wondered: how feasible was that?

carols super snake was a stick and they throw you in your seat way harder on the shifts so just when you get the hang of moving it lets up and then whips you back even harder cause your flying forward when the clutch get pushed so just with those few facts that is was carols super snake not regular 427 cobra his super snake had 800 hp and he was probably running slicks probably warm tires on a sunny day and that the car was a stick shift this comparison is an absolute joke if you ask me

Shelby was talking about the 800HP 427 Cobra Super Snake. 800HP in a car that only weighed -2300 lbs. is definitely going to keep you pinned to the back of your seat. Since there were only a handful (2 or 3) of those made, there's basically no chance of getting your hands on one to test. The only modern cars that could replicate that would be the hyper cars or a Tesla P100D, and even those would be iffy because they all weigh -significantly- more than the 427 Super Snake.

That felt like click bait watching over 8 minutes of lame journalism why didn't they just get a cobra, even that Shmee150 or Mrjwwwwwww can put better videos together and they're crap.
Let Evo do it with people who know what they are talking about and make the video, erm interesting.

You notice that his only forward progress on the last run was during shifting? That's key.
Carroll didn't have a 60 mph goal to earn the money. What he said was -From the moment I step on the gas until the moment I let up, if you can grab that $100 bill, it's yours. -

First, You have to use a 427 Super Snake with Twin Superchargers.
Second, read above statement. a Cobra. Not a car with modern suspension that numbs the violent acceleration. A Cobra. A Car with nothing except an Engine and two Seats.

Brilliant idea! Not sure about the car choices though. Also, the Cobra 427 could reach 60 in under 4 seconds, according to road tests at the time. Power to weight ratio was around 400bhp per ton, more than any car in this test!

yo dudes, why not to try with a cobra? I'm pretty sure that it's impossible to grab the bill in a 427, it's a violent beast, the cars you drive in the vid are gentle and civilized, a real cobra is wild and breaks your neck: )

You know what would've made this test interesting? A car that's actually quick. Turbo S, P100D, GT-R, 570S, you name it. Seemed like the most random and illogical choice of cars for this type of video.

I noticed you asked how his abs were. In face the abdominal muscles would play very little part in the action he is performing. Instead you should of asked how his iliacus and psoas major were.
reply

The trick was to reach for the money as you dumped the clutch and accelerated from a stand still. Once in motion, it's easy. We used to play this game with our modded cars in the early 80's.
