The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Bigger, Badder, And Boxier Than Ever (also, it has a weird rear end)

How big is the Santa Fe? It's almost EXACTLY the same size as the Kia Sorento. This makes total sense as the Sorento and Santa Fe have long been related. In the last gen Santa Fe, things shrunk and it became 2-row only, in this generation it's almost exactly the size of a Sorento, and therefore inside it's about the same as a Highlander and only a hair smaller inside than a Pilot. Palisade/Telluride have a 3-person 3rd row while Sorento/Santa Fe have a 2-person way back. This means 6/7 seats vs the 7/8 seat format of the larger option. One note on cargo capacity: the way the Santa Fe's numbers are reported on the international press release don't conform to N. American standards. In the USA it's the whole volume behind the 3rd row or 2nd row. In other markets they only count the space below the rear seat backs and they use the count of blocks of specific sizes rather than total volume. In USA terms, the Santa Fe is likely around a bit roomier than the Sorento's 38 cubic foot rating (likely 40+ fcu ft, not the 25 cubic foot number you may have heard.

The functionality seems quite superior on the backend however besides the fact that it looks like the 'brilliant' design was simply juat flipping the tailgate upside down, it poses a real safety issue. Often times when you're in close following distance during regular traffic, the issue with having turn signals so low is that when people are close they can't see the signals. It looks great but they don't function like signals anymore. Why would it be a good idea to do that to tail lights? I feel like this car is going to get rear ended a lot!

This looks amazing. Hyundais really killing it
Anyone who still scoffs at this because it s still a Hyundai product deserves to be publicly shamed and taught about the current events. Because this product looks nothing like the old Hyundai products everything thought is junk
Right now we live in a world where Hyundai is being mentioned in the same sentence as a Land Rover. Let that sink in Hyundai is competing with Land Rover, a much more expensive luxury brand
You just can t have that kind of conversation with a Toyota

As a professional detailer, the paint kills me. Look at all the buffer trails all over (the whispy halogram looking marks when the sun hits) and even the black trim on B pillar. Sure hope they deliver the the final product much better than that if that isn't the final product. Wouldn't be surprised if they don't though. Sure it looks shiney but when the camera is up close, the paint is definitely in terrible condition for a brand new vehicle.

Very interesting car. I currently have a 2006 Honda Pilot with 192, 000 miles. It s been a phenomenal car. I have been considering replacing it with a Santa Fe calligraphy. I love all the features. I don t want a three row. I want a bench seat. I want the same road clearance because I like to sit up high. Definitely the interior screens on this car are fascinating. I also want automatic folding side mirrors!

to answer about a Plug in. I absolutely will NOT buy a plug-in Hybrid. Why, because There is no worry About having to plug the Thing in every day. ( I can see plugging in with a FULL EV as that gives you full range ) However, I really Want a regular Hybrid. To note you get great gas mileage with the standard Hybrid together with AWD so it makes more sense to my eyes to just go with the regular Hybrid.

Hyundai- where we will kill it with 90% of a new vehicles design. That Z in models looks better photoshopped without it. Then this, it's very attractive until you see the minivan liftgate. Anyone else see the Oldmobile Silhouettes liftgate? Good thing you don't need to look at it that much.
Interior is spot on IMO.

Front reminds me of a a Ford Flex but the rest looks fantastic. Interior is beautiful. Only let down is there isn t a more potent top end powertrain. Great vehicle over all and would definitely take this over any Toyota offering. Definitely not sad about the plug in not coming to North America

This changes the character of the car. It goes from elegant to more militant. Santa Fe was already very good and should have stayed as is for years to come. Please do not zoom in so much because we can't see the car then. This one looks like Ford Explorer from the past.

So I have a crazy idea. What if the reason why there is no more plug in hybrid, is because they are waiting for the Georgia factory to open, and then they are going to offer it as a full electric vehicle. That raised side sure looks like it is a good place for a big battery.

Assuming not much of a price change, seems to almost be cannibalizing the Palisade even though same size as Highlander, I don t think most people actually need that extra 4 inches of combined legroom, but a redesigned palisade will probably be larger and more leg room

Best color for this calligraphy trim is black, just to match the gloss black fender cladings and hide those overdesigned on the front end. the DRL will pop better if those are all black. even the wheels are gloss black. the interior would be beige or grey though.

I see lots of styling cues taken from the Land Rover Defender in this new Santa Fe. I have to say Hyundai and Kia are definitely moving to more daring styles lately and breaking with tradition. I'm hoping the new Sorento is a smaller version of the Kia EV9.

Alex, I see the hybrid has the same 1. 5 kWh battery as before and 0-60 performance has dropped. Hybrids rarely have larger batteries than that. Any engineering potential for, say, a 2. 0 or 2. 5 kWh battery on bigger vehicles to help performance and/or mpg?

I love the front end. the back end is awful. The interior is really nice, though I'm not a big fan of the steering wheel. I'd buy it though. I may trade in my 22 Tucson for this. if I can get over the rear end. Maybe it's better in person.

I love the view from the front angle. Not a fan off all the exterior gloss black. That weird window stuff going on the sides towards the back looks too busy. I do greatly appreciate how much effort Hyundai is putting into design though.

Here's a fun fact: Go look up 'Exter' by Hyundai. Its one of their smallest cars on the road right now in India. The reason it is worth a look is because they are already shipping this front end H design in one of their cheapest cars.

Ya but what if you don't want a third row and need all the cargo space you can get for your 100 lbs dog and his crate? Other than that I love it! Oh, and minus the fact that Hyundai and Kia's engines are known to randomly catch fire.

In profile, it seems the tailgate bulges out just under the rear glass, then tapers inward toward the bumper. like someone with a big nose and a weak chin. That's what makes it look weird to me.

I don't find the combined legroom figure to be very helpful. I need it to be broken out by row, like the headroom figures are. I evaluate and compare vehicles by second and third row legroom.

I m annoyed they aren t brining the phev to America, we need to lean into the electrification and every vehicle now should be at least offered in an electrified option in one way or another
