How could elite athletes who have over 10 years of training experience possibly gain muscle while losing fat? I thought only beginners or people who have taken a lot of time off of training had the ability to do that. Also, since they are elite athletes, they probably started at at least a decently low body fat percentage, correct? This study/video is making me question some things. I know you are very busy and this is an old video, but if you see this could you maybe offer an explanation as to how they lost fat and gained muscle at the same time? Been watching your vids for awhile and love your videos, thanks for all of the great information.

Wish more guys on YouTube where like myself everybody always says how they where skinny, skinny fat, narrow shoulders or can't gain nothing sucks its guess its rare for someone like myself. 4: 44 mark a good reason the ones that did the slow weight loss and gained more muscle/lost more fat they turned a lot of that fat they already had into muscle. Your still providing the body w/ needed nutrients to maintain and gain muscle as for feeding yourself w/ the slower diet=being able to add muscle and lose fat easier. Fast track diet your deficit in calories is to much resulting in losing strength, muscle (which helps burn even more calories) resulting in less benefits. Good explanation and studies on the subject Jeff

Great info. After losing a bunch of fat with a high deficit, this month I lost 10 lbs, but only 2. 2 of it was bodyfat (according to the local gyms scale) I was at 1650 cal a day with 3-4 half hour, low rest lifting sessions a week. (weekends are less disciplined, but I still see improvement overall usually) I'm going to try eating more like 1950 cals a day during the week, up my protein, do one day as slower paced, higher weight reps and see what happens.

Hi man, actually I have a question about this topic, what about if I do budybuilding training at the Gym, I do like a muscular bodytype but also I like cycling and I am super into it, and long rides seassons are coming around the corner, there is some recommendation to don't lost much mass? It will be quite useful probably few tips because I can imagine I am not the only one with the same concern. Thanks for your time

Im in the Army and curious how to burn fat, and stay capable of running 2 miles in 12 minutes without losing muscle mass. How does army cardio hurt your ability to build muscle? I have seen your videos on cardio killing gains but I wouldnt suggest 2-3, 2-3 mile runs a week could kill it as bad when I see guys in my unit who can run and are huge. Please help us in the military prepare for body building when we are out

Didn't you do a video last year that showed volume ie weight reps was the formula for muscle hypertrophy, debunking the bro science assumption that to get bigger you had to lift heavy? Here it seems you suggest high reps could have a cardio effect/caloric burn & a net negative to gains, which would contradict the volume regardless of rep range or weight ultimately affect muscle hypertrophy.

Hey Jeff, just wondering about muscle loss. Working certain areas such as 100's of setups doesn't burn fat in the stomach is this different with muscle while dieting. If in a caloric deficit working and or let's say biceps will it actually do more damage pushing myself on the main upper body muscles I'd like to keep? Hope it's worded well enough to get where I'm going with the question.

Question for you. I'm a 43 year old man. I have an active job but it isn't a repetitive work environment. I keep getting tendon related issues. Mostly in my elbows. And shoulders. I train 5 days a week. A body part a day. Is there a diet or approach that could help me stay free of the the tendon issues? P. s. I train on a minimal sets mb maximal muscle stimulation workout
