Don't ANY of these companies do any ergonomics testing Having the right stick that low on the device doesn't work. It's fine on an Xbox controller that weighs 200g max but not on a 6-700g handheld that you need to be able to support comfortably while still reaching the stick. Move the damn thing to the top like the Steam Deck. We don't have asymmetrical thumbs so stop aping the Xbox controller.

I really wish gamers designed these handhelds. There are so many things with ergonomics that don't look well thought out with this. The analog sticks need to be more ergonomically angled to the D-pad and buttons plus those buttons tops look overly rounded and would be nice if they had a flat surface. Compare to Steam Deck and ROG Ally to see the preferred layouts for comfort.

Swap left side joystick/dpad to sony layout because that is superior.
Give us a slide up screen revealing a full size keyboard.
Make the ABXY keys mechanical switches, custom made if need be.
Give the triggers the ability to run in button mode for old game emulation like ps1, ps2, and so on.
Front firing speakers is rock solid can't complain there.

Nice preview, Adam. I vibe with your low-key enthusiasm with these handhelds even though I have no interest in owning one. I think this Nitro Blaze thing looks cool contrary to the other early comments but everything else seems whelming at best.

I think Chinese devices are too powerful, this prototype not even a competitor for consoles like GPD4, mini, max2, PlayerOneX which are already released. Its comes with some features, like cooling, but its only 24 Gb of RAM !

No hall effect analog sticks, no programable back buttons, and looks like they tried to cram a lot of things in a small package. If this was sold at $499, it will be a hard sell since there are better options out there.

Last time Acer tried a dedicated gaming handheld, we had the weird looking Predator 8 Android Gaming Tablet.
Their support of it didn't last long.
I hope Acer had more commitment to this new handheld.

introducing it without one thing that makes it stand from the others (more battery, cheaper, anything) seems to be a wasted opportunity. I want to buy one handheld and I kinda already discarded this

I am waiting for Rog ally 2 with oled. I really want to buy a handheld gaming pc. But they are soo expensive where I live. Insane import duty and VAT taxes on electronic hardware.

Nice to see competition in this handheld gaming pc market. Hopefully dell, HP, Razer and Logitech also come out with their handhelds. The more options, the better for consumer

isn't it just one year late wirh the new Ryzen out this one still has the 780m. we don't know the price but for sure it won't cost less than an Ally with z1 extreme, so yeah....

You've said it is 8840U processor, but on the screen of device at 0:49 sec is stated 8840HS. So what is correct U and HS CPUs are a bit diffeent from TDP perspective...

I'm still waiting for the day a major manufacturer makes a clamshell handheld, the angle of view is so much better, I don't like looking between my hands as I play.

16gb is a hard selling point but if it's cheap enough and smaller than the competition but it has to be significantly cheaper like how nintendo sells the switch lite.
reply

Omg, please please please get rid of the racing stripe look on the shell and dials around the sticks. Make that as clean as possible and this could be my next.
reply

More competition is great. I would would say some in the coming years will not make them. In the end, we will get the best products in coming years.
