Initial thought was they were trying to bump more power up to beat the 7800X3D since they’re basically just competing with themselves and probably gonna lose at this point minus the 9900X which will vastly out perform a 7950X3D in productivity while not having the CPU parking crap on it that sucks. But listening to this and knowing Intel is cooked for a year or two in terms of mindshare due to their fault chips oof. Honestly i hope AMD starts doing this more often, i havent forgot about how awful the first half a years batches of RDNA3 were with the hotspot issue destroying cards. Companies need to be this thorough every time and Intel’s insane incompetence should be a hey, get it together you bums to everyone else. Especially fcking ASUS

I see this as no big deal. AMD is basically showing Intel how it's done. AMD pulled the stops so consumer would not be saddled with potentially defective products, and so AMD showing the public that they care unlike Intel. There is no current competition from Intel at the moment and the 7000 series are still so so good. And the delay is just for 2 weeks, which is nothing. Finally I think it's a tactical move from AMD too to wait for the Intel fix. Basically it's a win win win for AMD still.

There was an update on TheVerge that stated that the CPUs themselves were not affected by a problem, but that the test procedure was partly incorrect or was carried out incorrectly. The recall and associated postponement are not because AMD found any faults with the CPUs themselves, AMD spokeswoman Stacy MacDiarmid told The Verge. Rather, AMD determined that some of the chips did not go through all proper testing procedures, and the company wants to make sure they do - hence the recall.

AMD has a huge opportunity to take advantage of Intels bad public image esp with Tech and gaming Enthusiasts and hit a solid Triple play if not a home Run and lock in an entire 4-6 months of the CPU market while Intel rolls out Arrow lake
It's better that they take their time and do a solid, Clean launch
On top of that I think Intel is still not being completely honest about the stability and RMA issues so we'll see how it goes

You know it's mind blowing how long you can talk about the same subject for. I mean if you want proper news go to gamers Nexus he doesn't drag out his videos for half an hour talking about the same thing padding it with rubbish. Wow PC World is so irrelevant these days not even funny. Stop trying to be ltt stop trying to be game is Nexus or level one trxh6 you're just not anywhere near that. You literally drown on and on and on.

I just saw the Gamer's Nexus video and holy shit. I'm happy they're stepping in before they have this stuff out to the public but god damn CPU makers not looking good this gen and this coming up gen. Just a shitshow. ONCE AGAIN THOUGH, good on AMD getting out early.

So in other words TSMC had a bad batch of wafers. Or, since I believe TSMC also does the interconnect, maybe I'm wrong, they messed that part up. I know TSMC does the Vcache but maybe they don't do the interconnect on the PCB.
reply

don't let amd fool you with bald statement about quality expectation of initial samples. it's about taking advantage of intel's mess to increase launch price. all companies care about money in first place, amd is not different
reply

I don't mind waiting and appreciate that they are holding off to correct any issues. Currently running on a Ryzen 7 2700X I built in 2018 and planning on building another PC using their 9950X.
reply

I hope by this they are more prepared to handle the demand. The last thing I want to hear is a product being out of stock. I hate it when that happens as it becomes very lucrative for scalpers.
reply

why delay AMD wanna sell more 7000 series xD due to intel 13th 14th in fire xD
second claim AMD quality control is much better than intel, gain good reputation
1 arrow kill 2 bird xD

reply

I don't think there's much of anything really, they just want to release it after their competition release their microcode update that will further gimp and use that as it's contrast
reply

I'm glad they discovered it but bummin' there is an issue as I want to build a new PC as soon as possible and I'm concerned the x3d models will also get delayed.
reply

A slight delay so the intel issues really explode in the news maybe So they didn't 'meet' QA, nah I think they did, they want the new batches to exceed QA is my take.
reply

Not really a bad thing. It's better this way than what Intel has given out. Plus, is there anything these CPUs can do that the current ones can't
reply

21:38 - I doubt they were chips that skipped the QC process. More likely they revised the QC process after these chips had already gone through.
reply

Why did they send them out without fully testing them If they thought of something they didn't test why did they not already think of that
reply

The performance of 7800X3D matches that of RTX4090. Without the release of new GPU, it does not hurt at all that there is no new CPU.
reply

This is the kind of responsible behavior that makes me comfortable investing in their company again after the RDNA3 flop of rushing a release
reply

It could be just printing error on retail box or the size of the CPU lid exceed tolerance level resulting cooling problems.
