Log Cabin Building, Bushcraft, Survival Skills, Cooking, Canadian Wilderness, Off Grid Living, Homesteading Hi, I'm Shawn James. I am a passionate outdoorsman living the life of my dreams in a log cabin that I built by myself in the Canadian wilderness. Join me and my golden retriever, Cali and listen to the sounds of the forest in this relaxing wilderness setting. I prefer to keep my talking to a minimum and let the natural sounds of nature make you feel as though you are there with me. There truly isn’t anything like the SW. I lived there in the 70s and 80s. We hiked to the mouth of Sabino Canyon just outside Tuscan. It begins with a crystal clear pool that was ice cold but Arizona at that time was 105. We stripped and dived in. It was incredible.
I was back there a few years ago and tourists are not allowed to drive your 4 wheel up the canyon road to the midway point. They bus you in to an area you can hike around but many don’t take the time to head to the mouth which is still another 2 plus miles up. We did, back then walking around rocky terrain and jumping on boulders with critters all over the place, giving us a curious nod.
It was absolutely heaven.
Not many people hiked to the mouth of the canyon so it was pristine and not a human around.
There is a secret down inside the pool. I will not disclose it but the whole experience was just incredibly awesome. Great memories of the southwest.
I haven’t forgotten it now 55 years later.

WOW, the scenes are magnificent! At about 8. 30 looking across at a longer row of steep cliffs, there is a black line of something in all of them. What is that, bushes, a layer of rock Amazing as I've never seen the landscape through this lens before - just takes your breath away. Happy to see your family together and that all is well, even Cali. Merry Christmas! Your chicken coup is beautiful enough for a chapel! Can't wait to see what else you have in mind.

Congratulations Shawn! As a girl dad myself. I can relate to some of what you're experiencing. The last of my 3 daughters just wed in October. and am happy to say, there is another man in the family. While she may have a different last name. she will always be your little girl. Thanks for the update Shawn, Merry Christmas! And may the New Year find you and your family happy and healthy and blessed. Ed M. Orrville OH USA

Congratulations to your daughter and your wonderful family.
If you need help with your introduction videos of the wedding, please let me know.
You may remember me from way back in the day letting you know how your opening sequences were working or not working. It's quite understandable if you do not.
Regardless, I am still here, and always will be. I love your wholesome content.

Thank you for sharing about Emily. I have been wondering about her. There is absolutely nothing wrong with closing a chapter and opening another. Moving on to explore what makes us who we are so that we can live our best lives. While I miss her content, I’m so excited for her and Christian’s new beginning. Let the adventures begin!

Good for Emily. Evidently her concussion healed without any residuals. Arizona is a beautiful state to visit! We moved here in 1966. I lived in Ky for ten years but the old asthma kicked in again so I had to come back to AZ. I live out in the Sonoran Desert S. of Wickenburg. I'm 87 and I love it out here!

Congratulations Emily and Christian!
Funny enough my Daughter is marrying a guy named Christian in 2026 too
Whatever happens I know the Forest & Nature will be a part of her life and that is because of the Parents - Good on you!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your Family!

Very happy for you and your family that Emily is doing better and seems to have recovered from her traumatic brain injury (TBI. It is good that she has found a good man to be her life partner. May you and your family continue to be blessed from your hard work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Been to Arizona many times, such a pretty state. I know it was recently devastated by fires, but if you get a chance to go to the North Rim Grand Canyon it is completely worth the effort. Just stellar, and IMHO easily the prettiest side of the Grand Canyon. Have a Merry Christmas you all.

Congratulations and all best wishes, Emily and Christian! So glad you are well and happy.
There is obviously so much to her; she has accomplished so much already in her young life. Emily is smart, strong, soulful, so many wonderful things, but dang. what a gorgeous girl!

Congratulations to Emily on
getting engaged to Dan! They
look very happy. That was
quite a time for Emily when she
got concussed and I'm so glad
she recovered! Life just keeps
better and better in this crazy
world! Cheers, Sandy. All the best
in 2026!

Good info. I figured she had moved in a different direction as in. a relationship. But maybe her and future husband can appear in your videos from time to time. I love the Sedona segment. I went there once a few years ago. A fantastic area. Utah has great parks too.

Beautiful video, thank you!
The aerial videography is amazing as always.
Through the videos, I saw your children grow as I did mine. The important part is that they are becoming their best.
Best wishes to your family, greetings from Texas

It’s so great to see her so happy, especially after the struggles she faced regarding her health. I can’t wait to see how you transform the orchard, Shawn! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from beautiful Southern Oregon!
