I admire your ability and get it done spirit. With thought and planning. I grew up in the country and we were not bubble wrapped. But still, my heart was in my throat a few times watching this. I have known can-do, very experienced capable men who died slipping off a 10 foot ladder. Hitting their head. In town. Or getting pulled off a barn roof to their death in a flash. Things can happen quickly. As a wife I would be thrilled my hubby is living his dream and flourishing, but also dreading not hearing from him and holding my breath going to the cabin, waiting to see him alive and well. Not injured or worse alone in the forest. I have friends who have spent their entire lives scrapping a living as trappers and guides. It is not a romantic way of life. They love the wild but their marriages, and mental health have suffered. I think it is different if you are well set up with the means and as long as your health holds out. But full credit to you. You are doing it. Amazing progress. I understand the appeal. I enjoy seeing what you share with us.

Yesterday, I watched the roofing of the sauna, and noted that you have managed to keep the trees in question intact to this point. Kudos! You'll probably have to make some adjustments as the trunks widen, but looks like you will have the shade you need! I wondered why didn't you use a tripod with block and tackle to lift the logs, then realized that the straps, come-along and ramps worked as well, and maybe better. But there was still a lot of bull - work involved. I admire your intestinal fortitude to keep at it, despite the weather conditions! As always, stay safe!

I have an idea/question. Please anyone feel free to provide details as to why my idea will not work. Rather than storing your logs horizontally, store them vertically against surrounding live trees. This method would help to prevent rot/dry and keep you having to dig them out of the snow if u know u will be using during winter. A person could lean and/or lash them against said tree till needed. So will this work?

man's roof is damn near a foot thick. I think it'll handle that snow load. But, I get it. Being wrong is way worse than being right. Wrong about that roof's capabilities could get you killed. So yeah, get the snow off it for less than 30.

Hi Sean, watching you rake the snow reminded me of my experience with wood buildings that dont have rain gutters. Water from roof will eventually rot the logs closest to the ground in the drip area.

I have a question Shawn. How many times do you suppose you have thrown that plastic orange thingy for Cali in the last two years?
