happynewyear Happy New Year! 2019 at the log cabin is shaping up to be the most exciting year yet. I reveal my ambitious plans for the workshop, root cellar, smokehouse, archery range and wild food gathering in the Canadian wilderness with my dog Cali. My goal this year is to film every day and share more of my life than ever before. I'm living my dream life and my wish is that you too achieve your dreams in 2019. Thank you so much for your continued support and friendship - I look forward to many more years on this journey together

Hey Shawn, ole friend. I know, I know, It's been awhile and you probably missed me like crazy. ;-) But I am back now, The start of the year has been busy for me. I've taken on an extra job, and signed up for a certification class to help me make more money in the future.
I've been inspired by you in alot of ways. The plan for the money that comes in from the second job, and all money that I can spare, is being put into an account to save for purchasing my own land. I plan to eat natural this year. Fill my freezer with fish and some small game. I'm not doing that just to eat healthy, but also for my big plans to save every penny I can. The money is being saved for the purchase of my own land by the end of the year. I'm looking for land with at least a small creek going though it for water. I would like to have between 5 and 20 acres. Once I have the land, the plan then is to save next years money to apply towards building a small cabin or earthin home.
So yea, lots going on. Saving for land, planning my build, getting back to hunting, fishing, and shrimping this year. While I'm doing all this saving, I'm also working out at the gym 3 days a week so that I'm in better shape and health for building a natural style home. I also do yoga, but had stopped. I'm getting back to that as well as early morning meditation. It's going to be a grind to get life where I want to be, but I feel so inspired to finallypull the trigger. No more WAITING, it's time to get this plan in action.
Happy New year to you and your family Shawn. I'm catching up on all your videos, and looking forward to an amazing year.

Hello from Sweden - have happy New Year! Good luck with you building plans, and also with all you have accomplished so far. We are in the process of building a new home too, and like you we are trying to preserve all the wild life and insects on our woody plot of land, We never use poisonous chemicals in the garden. We live in the Swedish countryside and have a big piece of land around the house we are building. We will utilize homegrown vegetables, try to get el. bill down by having sun heated water tubes on our roof, also we will create electric power from solar cells. In the cold season we burn wood, taken from our own woodland. Regards Eli Christine

You have a great vision on what you want to do with the property and how you want things to be there. I enjoy watching your videos because you motivate me. I also want to thank you for all the hard work that you put into these videos and showing us the steps that you take to live off the land. What would be your suggestion for somebody that loves the outdoors but doesn't have the skill set. I hope to be able to live off the land in the future. Watching your videos and how you go about things I could see myself living that way. once again thank you for all that you put into your videos and all that you do to get those videos to us so we can see them.

As the voice of that young boys dreams are realised
So too is the voice of the soul calling out to us all
To follow our dreams
To be inspired by that inner voice
Its always calling
Are you listening?
I think one of the reasons you are so inspiring is that you remind each and everyone of us, of those long lost dreams, that are maybe now being reawakened through your willingness to share your dream and remind us that its possible
Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for sharing your beautiful soul x

Hi Shawn, have you ever thought about raised beds in your garden. you should make a hugleculture with rotten wood and leaves part way up your garden bed and save your fish scraps and dig them into the garden soil. i am sure your are composting so that is great. ok i am bossy, but that is what i'm going to do this spring in my garden. good luck in your garden. better get a deer detterent too. lol. Shawn, thank you for sharing your journey with us. I admire your courage and conviction to live off-grid. I think we have become so disconnected from our natural environment and far too connected virtually to our world. I try to spend as much time outdoors with my wife as possible. I look forward to your new videos. You inspire so many of us to enjoy and respect nature.

I am about your age and feel that same way you do. I am excited to see you follow your dream and have the skills and ability to do so. keep going. blessing

Hi Shawn, Your refinements to your cabin makes a great looking home even more 'homey. What about close to your front door hand carving/chiseling (smallish) the completion date/year (and maybe varnishing over it) to give it a tad bit of highlight. This may ruin the lines of your cabin though? Great videos, always. Thanks.

When you leave the cabin? Have you ever returned to find signs of something else you didn't want? The last time I was at my Brother inlaws Cabin was 5yrs ago! My health issues?
Your shows have been a great experience for me of my remembered experiences! THANK You
