This video is about cleaning and cooking a ruffed grouse on a campfire with my wife. Joe: I've never had Grouse. I recently found out there's an area near me with enough population of grouse to hunt. It's in the same state as me, so I would not need a separate license. Only about 3 hours drive. I like forward to giving it a try. Your little meal there looked good and fun to do.

When my brothers and I were little, we would bird dog for Dad and Uncles. We would run, flush up the grouse, and they would holler, Duck and we would lay in the grass and laugh because we knew it wasn't duck. Silly buggers. Wonderful eating is grouse, I agree! Merry Ann from Minnesota

I had hoped to do similar today, but didn't bag anything. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow. Ruffies look a lot lighter meated than sprucies and ptarmigan. Bet it's good fare. Thanks for taking us with you!

The last time I prepared a grouse, I stood on the wings, breast up, and pull, gut clean and over the coals, Lose the Keg spice, Montreal steak spice is way better, cheers. R.

Really nice, Is there any difference between a ruffed grouse and a spruce grouse? That's what we mainly have here is called spruce grouse. Thanks for sharing

we've been hanging our grouse a few days. seems to give the meat a better texture, but any ruffed grouse is great eating.
