But, finally on May 3rd(ish, the weather changed, the ice went out and the permit offices were open for business. I was ready to go on my first solo trip of the season

Wow, Shawn. Is this your first YouTube video? Beautiful stuff right from the get-go. My wife and I did 7 days in the Boundary Waters and Quetico out of Ely MN. Other folks around but still beautiful and the portages are good for you. When we were kids dad took us to Wawa and Missanabe, he had a friend there that ran a fishing lodge, more great memories. Canada has the biggest, most colorful brookies hands down. From this to where you are now, you must cherish your wilderness portfolio. Your country is awesome.
This video brought back a lot of very good memories, good for the soul! Thank you very much! John from W. Michigan.

Thanks for this. I also watched Jim Bairds video with his brother and you. I think around the same path in this one but last year. Im planning my first solo trip on that same route for Sept this year ( nervous but excited to say the least. Maybe 8 days to give me a little extra time. Ordered Jeff's map and paddleplanner to try research route. It is amazing you too have guys like you and Jim etc doing these. Love it all but I'm into the portaging this year: . Keep up this great work, we all appreciate it! Going in June too but with a friend, or I would be doing this one sooner; .

Looks very similar to the bwca. I first started doing weeklong canoe trips there when I was 12. Did about 10 years in a row but life has gotten in the way the last 5 years or so. Planning to start the tradition back up this year or next. This video brought back many great memories and emotions!

The music and sounds of nature are absolutely relaxing. So tranquil, I can export myself there when I close my eyes. Thoroughly enjoyed this video, Shawn. Looks like a great catch too. Awesome. I quite envy your simplicity, nature and natural living. Just what my soul craves.

I've seen people take some nasty falls down some slippery slopes in Algonquin trails. The park is beautiful but one false move and it can be treacherous and unforgiving. Dont wanna break a leg 3 days 20-30km in that's for sure.

Thanks sooo much for sharing this. I was fortunate to run and fish the St. John River in Maine, and the boundary waters of Minnesota/Canada, but can no longer do these things. This would be a dream trip. this video is a gift.

Is that Dan Gibson Solitudes in the background music? It's amazing how far you came from this first video to the one just yesterday. Keep living your dream and I hope your wife is adjusting to this new lifestyle.

Yes I imagine getting stepped on by a 1000+ pound moose would suck a bit more than smashing your shin on a rock.
Good video.
