I Handcrafted My Own Log Cabin Windows Rachel: At last a proper man. These days men are all manicures, facials, smelling like a girl and using their own make up.
Give me a man that has rough hands, smells of pheromones, a bit dirty, and has worked hard manually.
Unfortunately these type of men are dwindling, and its so sad.
What this man has done to build his own off grid home is fantastic.
I wish there were more men that could be more handy when it comes to manual/physical jobs. Its too easy to call someone else in to do the job.

Erik, what kind of axes did you use to split and fashion the framing for your door and windows? (It looks like you used both short-handled and long-handled carving-bearded axes. Is that right? If so, did you make them yourself, or did you buy them? I haven't been able to find such axes anywhere)
Also, how did you develop your amazing wood and metal working skills?

You are a very talented young man building the whole house by yourself and came out looking fantastic and just
As Beautiful as any Logcabin I see so far. In Europe they might call them different then
Here in United States. I'm watching and learning all of the countries in Europe.
Thank you for sharing with us.

Honest question, not critique at all since what you do is remarkable. But it looks like the inside of the window isnt harvested from trees, but rather store bought lumber. Since its so straight and pristine. Is there a reason for this?
Again, don't mistake this for critique, just an honest question

Erik, have you thought about building or buying a water container to preserve and save the rain water (maybe by filtering it) so you could have easier access to water around the lodge for cooking and washing hands? Also have you had the flu many times when being there?

I once built a large (1224') deck w a hammer and everyone was really surprised I didn't use a nail gun and I'm not saying it's eq to this but, it was really satisfying using your own muscles instead of a power tool so I get it Erik!

This reminds me a lot of Dick Poeneke(sp, who built his log home in Alaska and lived there 50+ years.
You must have such a sense of accomplishment for building such a beautiful home, all without the aid of electric tools! Good for you!

How did he make the glass tho? And the hinges for the windows? He had to leave the site at some point to grab the dishes and black smith stuff

Seeing the oil bring out the beauty of the wood is incredibly satisfying to me. Look up dedication in the dictionary, and you'll see Erik

These videos remind me of videos made years ago by Dick Proennek who built and lived in a cabin in Alaska. Great content.
