Welcome to Chicago, one of the greatest food cities in the United States and home to the famous deep dish pizza but did you know thin crust has been around for much longer than deep dish. In this Chicago pizza tour we re learning about the history of deep dish pizza in chicago and we ll try one of the best thin crust pizzas in the city as well! I work down the street from Lincolnwood i didn't know the one on Lincoln was the original location. i just ordered a classic with sausage butter crust and pepperoni with Buffalou wings. i had Pequods in morton Grove. i was very unimpressed. nothing had flavor and the pizza sauce was very bitter. but lou malnatis is always clutch. i wish you would tried beggars and Italian fiesta too

what I hate about Mark's video's is I'm not there. I know I couldn't or wouldn't eat half of what he does but watching him enjoy most of the food he eats makes me want to jump into his videos and sit down at the next table and just watch him eat. oh and Mark if you can answer this does Ying eat everything you do? I don't mean as much but does she try all the food. nibble?

Grew up in New Jersey, so I know good pizza. Lived in Chicago for a few years after college. Was skinny when I moved there, not so much 3 years later. Deep dish is awesome, but it is not pizza. It's a casserole. Knife and fork to eat a pizza? Not pizza. Stuffed pizza should have also been on the tour. Shout out to Giordano's. Good stuff, but still not pizza.

I wish you could have experienced Phil Schmitz restaurant for their lake perch & pan seared frog legs. unfortunately they closed down. I remember in the 80's I would go there as a child. and I remember the Downey plant was there and gave me God awful headaches because of the smell. but their food made up for it. best frog legs probably in the world.

I sat down with my plate of brats and pork n beans w/potato chips, mac & cheese, and a root beer float while it started, smashed that during the deep dish part. Here I sit empty plate during the tavern style and watching got me hungry! Time for round 2! I love this series Mark! Thank you for the awesomely edited instant classic!

Wow. Mark, you are incredible! Not only showing us the best pizzas in Chicago but taking us to those kitchens to see how the pizza was made and tasting the ingredients? I am glad you are continuing to do this and inspiring me to cook and enjoy life, too. I'm still dreaming about you coming to Canada

My family is from Chicago but have been residing in Texas for 45+ yrs. my moms fave is Unos. but I love Giordanos. Thin crust I love Fox's pizza. and my ultimate fave is Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder for pizza pot pie. But you need to try Pop's Italian Beef. THAT is amazing

Chicago deep dish is not a traditional pizza crust, its more of a biscuit tasting crust with toppings on it, and the fullness of the crust overpowers and detracts from the toppings. What they do get right in Chicago is the Italian beef sandwich. excellent.

I've bought pizzas that are frozen and delivered by Pizza Uno. Save your money. They are horrible. They need to get out of the shipping business. I don't know what the crust is and they are full of water. I tried them all and the results were the same.

I remember waiting for hours outside in the wind and cold in that tiny little pit in front of Pizzeria Uno, and not for one second thinking it wasn't worth it! So fun you went there Mark! Loved this and the memories it brought back from my childhood!

If you want to talk about an original Chicago food. Check out Chicago oven grinders on Clark St. Wanted to be a pizzeria. But when the pizza pan they ordered came in, they were soup bowls. So they make an upside-down pizza in a soup bowl.

I have had best pizzas from many U. S cities and Chicago pizzas is ok. Chicago does have best hot dogs but pizza is not it. NYC pizza is the truly the American pizza. California is where it's at with creative topping and doughs.

The thing I like about Malnottis is that they ship their pizza. I live in Michigan and every now and then I crave a deep dish instead of a Deteoit pizza. We'll order Lou's and keep them in the freezer for just that reason.

Great video. The only thing missed was an entire category of deep dish called stuffed pizza which has an extra thin layer of dough that separates the toppings and cheese from the sauce. Nancy's, Giordano's etc.

Mark, I am a Chicago native, and must say BIL Derrick really hooked it up. Crazy to think you have more content with Au Cheval and Ricobenes (Just from the intros, I can tell you really got to the right spots)

The tomatoes on a Lou Malnati's pizza are so delicious. My absolute favorite deep dish pizza. So glad you did a special video for Chicago Style pizza. Tavern style is just as important to us as deep dish.

we have a place near where i live called Doghouse Pizza that does the cracker-like crust. its crazy addicting and awesome to enjoy. sometimes better than just your ordinary New York slice Mark Wiens

Have to say, it all looks amazing. Personally, I love the Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder Co. down on North Clark Street. The Pizza Pot Pie with the mushroom and sausage sauce is to die for.
