I spent a month backpacking in Iran starting in Tehran going to Yazd, Bam, Bandar Abas, Qeshm, Shiraz, Esfahan, Tabriz and then into Armenia. To this day I have never experienced such amazing hospitality and met so many kind people as I did in Iran. Total strangers went out of their way to help me in every place I visited. I was taken on tours on the back of motorbikes, invited into people's homes and fed, in the market in Tabriz a shopkeeper invited me to join them in the shop for lunch, in Laft on Qeshm Island I was allowed to sleep in an office because there was no other accommodation (over ten years ago, maybe it's different now, they just gave me the office keys and trusted me. When I arrived in Yazd on the bus it was nearly midnight, the bus driver made another passenger get off with me and help me to organise a taxi to my guesthouse. I'll never forget Iran because of how the people made me feel.

How did you manage to eat so much but it looked amazing. You are living the dream. I recently flew 11 hours and the food which you had to pay for if you wanted to eat was so bad I just ate pretzels. They offered a truly gross microwaved egg white and sausage sandwich. It sounds ok but it smelled like a wet dog in need of a bath. Flying isnt what it used to be unless you go first class or business class but even then most airlines offer crap food. The middle eastern and asian airlines are much better both for food and comfort but not cheap. On my 11 hour flight my seat wouldnt recline and when I asked about it they told me that seat had been broken for a month. 11 hours sitting perfectly upright and bad food.

Iran is always look at in a bad view, but the hospitality on the airline and the food and the hospitality at the airport in Iran was remarkable. It gives you the view that there are really some lovely people in Iran. I was kind of shock from the hospitality because you always hear about Iran in wars. If the hospitality is like this consistently and Iran can stay out of wars I would love to visit Iran. Egypt and Iraq as well i would like to visit, it is just the wars that have to stop.

Mahan Air is awesome and the food looked really good. Very hospitable country and wonderful people. It was great to see Mr. Taster again. Mark stay safe and protected in your travels and wish you and your family well.
