Today I am making crispy fried chicken like my Abuelita. She would season, then take a palm-full of flour to lightly coat the chicken. She would shallow fry until deep golden brown and crispy. Ingredients 3 lbs bone-in chicken pieces 2 tsp seasoned salt 1 1/2 tsp lemon pepper 1 1/2 tsp granulated onion powder 1 1/2 tsp granulated garlic powder 1 tsp paprika 1/4 cup all-purpose flour cooking oil for frying Mayday: My southern mama would season her flour and shake the chicken pieces in a paper bag. Since then I learned to season the chicken first before coating with flour. Makes all the difference. She would make a chicken gravy with the drippings for mashed potatoes Thanks for another simple and delicious recipe!

I LOVE that you can shallow fry chicken and get a similar end result to deep frying (which scares me, and seems so extravagant on cooking oil) THANK YOU, this kind of simple, wholesome family dinner is perfect.
Having the stomach to joint a whole chicken/turkey/fowl into pieces with a knife, sorts the REAL cooks like Angelica from the amateurs like me. I guess I might be able to cut an entire bird into palatable portions like that for a dinner, but it would put me right off eating it - is that weird!

My Southern Alabama Grandmother would place some flour, salt & Paprika into a paper bag, add chicken pieces, shake, Placerville immediately into hot oil to pan fry. Turn x1, drain on a brown paper bag, serve.
Me? I add Smoked Paprika instead of regular paprika, place spices in a plastic bag, chicken goes in, shake, remove to pan with hot oil, turn x1, place on Parchment paper, waxy side down. I add SALT on both sides of the hot chicken. & Yummm. eat!

I LOVE your recipes and cooking videos. I made your fried tacos tonight. Gonna be my new way of cooking them. Normally I fry my tortillas into a taco shape then fill, but cooking them with the meat in them! Never thought of it and it s the bomb! I also made your potato ground beef casserole. So good. I have so many of your videos saved to make. I m going to try this with chicken really soon. Blow a kiss to your Abuelita for me! One for you too!

Oh wow! I miss my grandma so much! I tell you, my grandma was so resourceful. Could whip up a meal with the fewest of ingredients. And it would taste so good! Her chicken was one of my favorites I will use your recipe for sure. Actually, I'm frying chicken wings for dinner! Ty for sharing yours and your grandmother's lovely recipes! Time to go cook now! Be blessed!

I suck at cutting up a fryer, so i get already cutup, i use a ziplock bag to dust the chicken, and fry like you did, i am going use that season combo you showed tho. But tonite i am using your awesome shrimp fried recipe, if you get time, would you show how you make chicken and dumplings?

That's how I make buffalo wings. Season the wings with just salt then dust the wings in flour and a little cornstarch. Then after I flip them, I stick them in the oven on Quick Bake 400F for 10 minutes. I will definitely have to try your recipe for Abuela's Fried Chicken, thanks Love!

Thank you it reminds me of my childhood as well my mom cooked chicken that way just flour and spices and a little oil not deep fried that came later with me. I remember my mom standing over the stove cooking chicken for pot lucks and family picnics.

I love all of your recipes. I haven't made many of them mostly the easier ones. I just started actually trying to cook about 3 years ago. Frying is one of my biggest downfalls. I tried to fry chicken once and never tried again after that.

My mom use to fix us fried pork chops like this and it was the best at the end she would season it with garlic salt and sprinkle some lemon juice with a side of white rice and steamed broccoli it was the best dinner ever.
