There are busy restaurants everywhere in Koreatown, and perhaps theres no busier place than Kobawoo, a longtime classic eatery that specializes in one great dish: bossam. The pork belly dish that David Chang once brought with fanfare to Momofuku (and charged a pretty penny for) might have been popularized at this all-around great restaurant on a bustling corner of LA's K-Town. In this episode, host Matthew Kang is joined by two very special guests: his parents, Peter and Christina Kang

I'm Korean and I can't believe I'm saying it. But I do not like that style of pork belly. I guess it's the different layers of texture that bothers me. My mom makes that for new year's day. But I don't eat it. Oh, but I eat everything else. OK, I should check outside the window for people with pitchfork and torches: ) But of course I love bacon: ) I guess for me it has to be thin and crispy. Speaking of which, my parents buy pork belly frequently at the Korean supermarket. They get it sliced ultra thin in bite sized pieces. Then we grill it table top with a portable propane grill. Sprinkle some salt, pepper and chopped garlic before it goes on the grill. And since it's sliced thin, it cooks instantly. Now that's yummy: ) Sorry if I offended any Koreans out there: )

I cant believe how well his parents speak english. Im so accustomed to Korean or asian parents speaking broken english or speaking with an accent. I always seem to find asians parents who speak fluent english or speak without an accent fascinating. Wish my parents spoke english that well maybe there wouldnt have been such a cultural gap between us.

Ur dad speaks brilliantly for a non native speaker 10/10 for learning a new language and mastering it to that point. I wish us Anglo saxoners spoke more languages: P to reciprocate how hard it must be for everyone else to learn English.

great video. that was so scrumptious. Nice of you to give your mom then your dad the first / second pieces of skate. Usually asians will pick out the best parts and give it to their parents/elders first. Good son.

I'm realizing more and more that Koreans are so similar to Polynesians. My dad told me when I was a kid to chew on raw sugar cane to clean my teeth. Health advice based off of zero science.

I've had that pork belly dish generally a first course or early in the meal, and usually it's room temp and kind of dry and rubbery. This restaurant looks like they do it a lot better.

Thank you for your vlog! Great looking pork belly! Have not seen Bossam ever in Korean restaurants here in Northern CA. Have to go look for it now after this!

how do your parents speak perfect english? that is remarkable. My parents have been living in the US for 20yrs+ and still can't put together a coherent sentence.
