Soban in Los Angeles is known for their ganjang gaejang, a delicacy in Korean cuisine that involves the fermentation of raw crab in soy sauce along with a variety of herbs and spices. In this episode, host Matthew Kang pays Soban a visit in order to sample the dish, one that is not as common outside of Korea

So many things wrong with this video: 1. If you're getting all serious and using words like pinnacle and indescribable then at least be respectful of the food and show how to eat it right! Do not cut the crab in half, you idiot. You're supposed to eat the meat from the shell. Then, you can put rice in the shell and mix it with the roe. 2. Stop making the food (and yourself) luxurious. I understand if you want to highlight Korean food, but then you need to at least state its origins. This dish was never a luxury dish, but one that was simple and available. Now, it is more expensive due to the rising prices and scarcity of the crab. However in terms of scarcity and price, it is not even close to that of Wagyu beef. This guy has a tendency to over exaggerate the food and himself. So much more but just not worth the time on this guy!

the video made the whole process look simple and easy but dont wver try this at home by yourself. it is difficult and complicated i swear. in order to make the crab safe for eating raw the crabs are submerged into the soy sauce mixture and then you take them out to boil the soy sauce to kill any possible germs in it. after cooling the soy sauce you submerge the crabs again and the process is repeated at least three to five times. this is why the dish is so expensive. even in korea you have to pay about 40 dollars per one crab in general.

Of course, for this publicity video, you are given the most complete crab in an impressive presentation. The night I went there, our table and the 3 next to us were served dark chopped pieces that seemed over-marinated in soy, also ridiculously overpriced. The other dishes were really not professional quality and overpriced also. However, the side dishes were very elaborate and well done. I say not to risk your time & money, for the same price, go for GOOD Japanese or Chinese restaurants instead.

When I was first served this, I was legit scared and concerned like how can we eat raw crabs. But then I saw every one else eating it and they must be okay so I dug into a little bite. insert fireworks in my mouth! Holy hit, it was so good I couldn't remember anything else that good in a long time!

Really enjoy watching these K-Town videos! I may not be Korean but I am a HUGE FAN of the cuisine! It also doesn't help me if I watch these vidoes at an ungodly hour of night where I am. always, ALWAYS get these terrible cravings. #proudasianhere

Always love watching this host. He knows how to describe and talk about food. Good stuff. :)Random thought: Most of the negative comments are more than likely coming from basic ass WYPIPO. lol

Apparently, Bong Jong Ho and his whole team celebrated their Oscar night at this small restaurant till 5 AM. Would of been a sight to see them all drunk, sucking the life out of raw crabs.

Its kinda a south asian cuisine. Each family's recipe can be quite different. But the main thing about the dish is the right crab. I havent had any in years but I miss it so so much
