So this is pretty much the perfect example of why only tracking one guitar is a huge mistake.
The mix is very one dimensional because everything is panned pretty much to the centre of the stereo field.
If you tracked two guitars they could be panned left and right, which would give the track a much wider sound and also free up space for the vocals in the centre.
This way the guitar is sitting right on top of the vocals, which makes it difficult to focus on either element.
Really basic stuff that could have made this sound a lot better tbh

Dont know if you care for constructive criticism at all, but if you do: your voice is the weak link here. Instruments sound fun and carefree and funky, and your voice feels very. practiced But in a way you know you practiced Either way, if you keep up with the vocal lessons im sure itll dissapear. You have a naturally good voice, just gotta lean into a good vibe. Keep up the great work!

Nice! Based on the clips in the previous video, I wasn’t expecting quite so much vocal range, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Love the ethic of only doing a few takes, too.
One bit of drum advice; check some videos on stick holding/technique. Pivoting it around thumb and pointer lets the other fingers power the movement rather than your arm. Hard to describe in text!

I don't know a lot about singing, but Adam you have the potential for a really awesome rock voice. I do think it sounds a bit too much like your speaking voice right now, though. It's like the singing voice is right under the surface and you just need more practice and maybe a vocal coach to bring it out. Keep it up!

Remarkable for the level of experience you have. I understand you have schooling but we know schooling is so little compared to repetition. There’s good composition here, just some production and performance polishing but that’s why we make things. Thank you for sharing this piece of yourself so vulnerably.

Very cool man. If you can are interested, take a look at how to set up a drum kit. Your toms are so far off to the right. Bringing all that closer would definitely help you out and not make it so you gotta hit both with one hand most of the time. Really cool to see you playing some music though. Love your videos

Some nice riffing. has potential. I liked 2: 10 onwards. The songwriting needs help though. Once you use butthole in a song you have to commit to the bit - fully lean into the goofiness or it doesn't work. I get that it's dad rock but it's giving theatre kid/musical and your guitaring deserves better than that.

I think you need just a bit more confidence in projecting your voice and you're there.
I forgot to watch the video titled dad rock cause I thought I'm good, I'm old.
Didn't expect you to hit us with this! I hope ppl can enjoy this song, it's got a specific style that dates a bit. (affectionate)

As a seasoned drummer (pun intended - been playing since the mid/late 80’s, it’s refreshing to hear the decisions you’ve made after only a year of commitment! Keep pushing on, and most importantly, enjoy the journey!
Respectfully, a fellow Adam from the CLE!

Not my usual cup of tea since I love my music (metal) really produced and processed, but honestly this highlights how important songwriting is because DAMN it sounds so good without the crazy production and mixing from big studios!
Cheers from the Philippines!

Okay Adam, that G - F#min/A - F#7/A# - Bmin progression at 1: 05 is a total earworm. I've been listening on repeat. That contrasting guitar and bass work really does help showcase the relative minor V-i harmonies. Good work and thanks for pointing those LPs out.

'I've made enough moneyu to be rude to anyone' might be my favourite line.
I hope the inner 12 year old Adam (who I just presume was not a social butterfly) enjoyed that one - You got richer than the arseholes by talking about seasoning your cutting board.

Start of something good, but you either need to choose a singing style which fits your range or find another vocalist.
I legit would’ve loved the song if you weren’t singing it. Just being cruel to be kind here.

Can't say I thought it was great, but I respect you putting something out there that you clearly really wanted to do, that takes serious guts, and I can only respect that

So this is what a man does when he releases himself from the shackles of capitalistic wageslaving. Realizes they just want to do the fun things they were doing before.

These lyrics are absolutely awful Adam, like seriously the most embarrassing lyrics that I have ever heard. It's like a joke but in the wrong way
reply

The AR subreddit is always crying about things not being exactly what they want, and my man is just out here living his best life. Happy for you, man.

There's the people that will like the song. And then there's the people who have watched Adam from the beginning who were going to GET this song.

I think the first verse that cut in the middle to highlight the guitar parts would need to be made more. cohesive Maybe add some echo effects

Built to Spill wants their pre-teen demo back. Just kidding, ;. Huge fan. This comment is because I bought your knife and it was trash.
