Check out 10 minutes of hands-on gameplay from World 2 of Yooka-Laylee, Glitterglaze Glacier I see a problem with this game already. -Puzzles- are too easy to solve, theres no challenge to platforming or combat, the world is large but empty.
Every section that requires some -strategy- has the solution right before that level. There isnt any solving, just follow the linear path laid for you. Whats the point of having a large, open world with this mentality?
The platforming is not challenging and also linear. Combat involved doing either that spin attack or hopping on enemies, and there is little to do in between each section other than run to the next point.
These devs are gonna have to take a better look at Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games if they wanna make a -fun- game.\r\n

What if( -and I'm just thinking out of the box-) What if Yooka-laylee is so popular and then gets so many sales that Playtonic could earn enough money to buy the rights for 'Banjo-Kazooie' back from Microsoft!
Then as promised in 'B-T' -BANJO - THREEIE- or better BANJO - KAZOOIE & YOOKA - LAYLEE crossover adventure. (: D

The music isn't good and the levels are quite empty. Something seems to be missing that would tie the experience into an immersive one. Do like everything else tho, but a just a bit too bland, clean and underwhelming feel so far.

Super Mario Odyssey is going to wipe the floor with this game. It looks very open and empty. The mine cart areas look crazy unprofessional. Retro Studios did a WAY better job at modernizing the old mine cart tracks.
reply

This looks really empty. Where are all the collectibles? If this was Banjo Kazooie there would've been a plethora of collectibles scattered accross every corner, yet here it's only a few feathers here and there.
reply

Dear lord, please tell me you can turn off the annoying noises these characters make when you fly or roll into a ball. Other than that, the game looks good, but the voices could be a deal breaker.

4: 20 Not that -hit these things in the correct order- is super original gameplay but there was an extremely similar color-coded musical icicle puzzle in Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.

I'm not even going to watch this video or gameplay videos.
I am so excited for this game!
Occasionally I go back to my N64 and play Banjo Kazooie just for that nostalgia!

i am a big banjo fan and also a fan of the former Rare, but honestly this looks pritty empty and booring to me. Can somebody tell if this is a beta alpha version. no sarcasm
reply

They basically made a N64 game with the same annoying camera and even more annoying sound effects. I understand nostalgia but after so much time I would have expected more.
reply

Am i the only one who thought about glitter glutch mine when the new character said the good old days bc in that level you went around the world in a mine cart thing
reply

I hope they extend the release of this game as i really want to see this game succeed! It feels empty and the sound when you jump, roll gets annoying really quick.
reply

Wow alot of people moaning? Have any of you play Rare's N64 games? This is how it should be. Go back to playing Call of Duty. This is amazing, picking it up on day 1.
reply

How is this game not a copy of banjo kazzoie even the snake talks like the old characters in banjo. haha it's still a sweet game that'll I'll buy
reply

this game shouldnt have tried so hard to be banjo kazooie. it was a mistake. it needed to be influenced. but still be its own thing. im not impressed.

Hopfully Playtonic can recruit more ex rare employees so they can make more spritual successor games cause we need one for conkers bad fur day.
reply

This is the gameplay that completely sold me on this game. There is plenty to do in this level and nothing about it seems barren or lifeless.
reply

this music. these sounds. I'm already feeling completely relaxed and entranced. Love it so much. What a perfect switch title, can't wait!
reply

This game sucks, there is too much gameplay, where is my cinematic experience of doing nothing but holding up on the analog stick?
reply

This reminds me of the old school platforming games like Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo-Kazooie.
reply

It's kind of hard to make a big criticization with this game with how much nostalgia i feel towards older rare styled games lol
reply

Yooka and Laylee probably just destroyed hundreds of creatures who've adapted to Glitterglaze Glacier, all to melt an ice cube.
reply

Interesting that the minecart section still had the old version of the song in it. Wonder if it was a last minute change?
reply

Okay so it's official, that casio level NEEDS another design pass before release. Because this was a great looking level.
reply

so it's just a reskinned banjo kazooie but without any of the soul or charm of the original series. excellent
reply

Wow, this game looks wonderful! It's about time we got another creative and colourful 3D platformer like this.
reply

It looks like all the characters and enemies are too small for the world I think that's why it feels so empty.
reply

And so far most npcs are repeated characters, which doesn't make the levels stand out from one another.
reply

Love the eye enemies that possess inanimate objects. Everything had eyes in Rare games, it's so fitting.
reply

the game looks promising! I hope dev wont FUK this up just like what happened to Mighty no. 9 last year.
