I have no nostalgia for Banjo Kazooie, I played it for the first time in 2012 on my Pikachu N64 and. well, it wasn't what I expected to be honest, I mean I expected to like it and enjoy it but I DID NOT EXPECT TO LOVE IT SO DAMN MUCH TO 100% the damn thing: D Needless to say it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time! I started Banjo Tooie immediately after beating Kazooie and to this day I don't understand the hate for that game, it was INCREDIBLE, unfortunately my cat Anastasia(RIP she went away in 2014) was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure around that time so that hit me pretty hard and I was unable to play games for a while, by the time I was able to game again I had forgotten what all I did in Tooie and didn't feel like starting over, yet I absolutely adore the game and I got very far still: )
SO, to me, Yooka Laylee looks like it's going to be an outstanding, incredible experience for those of us who love the Banjo games with all our hearts, I wish it had voice acting to make it feel more like an actual cartoon but I understand why they didn't include voice acting so it's fine I guess, again wish there was good VA tho.
The game looks unbelivable and if there's a physical version of it I'll be sure to buy one regardless of price

The bat's sounds are endearing, but I don't care for the chameleon's vocal noises. The music is perfectly fitting and this toybox level has an abstract approach, like it's combining multiple level ideas from Super Mario 3D world and the secret levels in Super Mario Sunshine. It's Banjo Kazooie for a modern audience. I still rate Banjo Kazooie as one of the best games of all time. I may have to get a GPU and a Steam account just for this. For a toybox level it's got as much going on as any level from Rare and Nintendo's finest.

At this stage it feels -too- similar to Banjo Kazooie. And before anyone comes after me for saying that with -That's what they were going for-, that's not 100% the case. They definitely wanted to recapture that magic for sure, but they've said a few times before that they want to really make this stand out from that. Make it it's own game rather than a complete clone. I'm definitely still excited for the game, ignoring a few nitpicks that I'm sure aren't final. I did back it after all!

Oh boy, what a good design! I feel like if you played the shit out of banjo you may not be in to this as its more of the same, but updated with a better camera, a shadow to tell you where you are jumping which is a must for all 3d platformers, character design that allows you to roll around like sonic but still have control. Many hype

I so look forward to the main game as this is what I've been waiting for since the N64 days. I really hope Playtonic's next game is a spiritual successor to Diddy Kong Racing, that game still hasn't been beaten imho, the more recent Sonic racing games came closest but they lacked the former's charm.

the lack of something as simple as ledge grab in this is going to bother me just like not being able to jump in brutal legend does. the lack of voice acting bothers me only because I was spoiled by the likes of crash and spyro having it and they were released well before this game.

It's amazing to see the impact that Super Mario 64 still has on modern platformers. Of course this game stands on many of its own merits, it's just amazing to see that a game that old still influences games today, truly inspiring and innovative.

WOW. The nostalgia, man! Incredible to see this actually happening. Never thought I'd feel that same warm feeling inside that I felt watching Banjo Kazooie for the first time as a kid but here it is! A special game for many of us, I'm sure.

i hope there is a game over seen that was my favorite part of Banjo-Kazooie so I hope this new game that's supposed to be very similar will this do that too and have a game over scene
reply

I don't like it being so relatable to Banjo-Kazooie, I think they could've been more original. But it's really great to see that the 3d platformers genre is not dead yet

For what it's worth, I actually liked Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. It may not have been a traditional platforming collect-a-thon like you wanted, but it was FUN, dammit!

Yooka-Laylee are going to have to hit hard and do some heavy lifting in order to evade the controversial delay history than Mighty Number 9 went through!
reply

Looks great, almost carbon copy of Banjo Kazooie, they've got the foundation there. Now they just need to pump out the levels and characters.
reply

game is looking so good i just want them to make sure that the water looks better more vivid an also some water effects on yooka and laylee
reply

None of these environments look as organic as I would have hoped. I hope that there are very few levels with suck inorganic aesthetics.
reply

the voices are a bit much (the lizard sounds like theyre retching every time they jump) but the mechanics look smooth! excited for this

This game is going to do amazing! Mark my words, once Microsoft sees how well this does they will try and bring back Banjo Kazooie -

so far. physics is A+ perfect. And framerate (the way it looks) may be clocked at a full 60fps. But this on a PC is perhaps 160?
reply

The level is a lot more spread out than Banjo Kazooie, it's like they combined those games with the Spyro games. Good idea NuRare!
reply

Really hope they change yooka's voice. Really annoying and generic sounding, banjo had a unique and fun and cool sounding voice
reply

By the look of it, this game won't share the same fate with Mighty No. 9 as being a cash grab and not staying true to its predecessor.
reply

Thank god this is happening. I seriously play Banjo/DK at least once a year, and listen to the soundtracks all the time.
reply

Not that it's a bad thing, but I'm really surprised at how Banjo Kazooie it is. Not even straying from it a little bit.
reply

I can't seriously be the only one looking at this while saying -. can you just make a banjo kazooie game? -
reply

Can't wait to spend way too much of my life collecting every single thing in this game when it comes out
reply

I wonder if Banjo and Kazooie will appear as a cameo of some sort somewhere in the game. That would be rad!

The sound of picking up one of the feathers reminds me so much of something you'd hear in Wind Waker.
