Final LGR donations unboxing for 2021, and it's a huge one! All kinds of vintage computer hardware, software, oddware, classic games, and retro technology. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed - and also made offers to do so! Super psyched to make videos about these things

I really enjoyed the video. Thank you. I have pulled the trigger on one. Still in the box. It is a must have but I have no idea where it will sit in my daft collection. Plus there is a FOS (fear of stickers) going on. I love both Playmobil and Lego. The Back to the Future Delorian is excellent. My son's have been gifted lots of stuff over the years. The Fire Rescue and Spy Base were amazing. Given that I am diagnosed OCD 'perfectionalism' it's a scary build. Is it worth the money? Yes, if you are an enthusiast. I so so wish Playmobil would do a version of the Blakes 7 Libby, Orac and Scorpio. Sadly, not a chance, but these would be bank overdraft challengers. Again thank you for a down to earth review. I watched TOS in the UK on a B&W TV in the Seventies when I was 5 years old. Going through a messy divorce but the 'freedom' had allowed me to boldly go into the universe where only single chaps are allowed to go: ) It's a lifetime mission now.
Best wishes,
Paul.

OOooh loved World of Xeen - spoiler-free protip: it's M&M 4 + 5 merged into one game, so when you start a new game, go for the MM5 side until you can leave the starter area, then teleport to the MM4 side and start the main plot there - instant Easy Mode.
In WoX you have the choice between starting where MM4 starts or where MM5 starts, because it includes both of those games in full. When merged, the two games form one continuous narrative, so the starter area for MM5 gets you to decent/high levels for MM4 with new characters: easy mode unlocks by starting with MM5 and then immediately switching to MM4 after the first town of MM5.

That joy gasp at the last time lol. So much stuff reminds me of the best decade ever. the 90s. I remember seeing VooDoo boxes on shelves in Software Etc. I remember seeing the Creative cd rom kits in Electronics Boutique. And Ive always loved Sound Blaster. I started in 94 wit ha SB 16 Value and I still have it in box beside me. Then I moved to a AWE64, Live, Audigy, then had another hifi brand card with x-fi on it. And my last one is a Sound Blaster Z in my current system. It seems they have slowed WAY down on making new ones. I hate onboard sound.

That laptop at 12: 30 reminds me of one time a few years ago that my dad found a very old museum-grade laptop that must be old enough to run DOS. I wanted to gently open it to look at what's going on, then get it running. I couldn't open it, so my dad ripped it in half. I wish I got that thing running.
It had an angled keyboard I remember, it didn't follow many laptop conventions we see today. (IIRC the screen wasn't the size of the base OR it hinged funny, but I might remember incorrectly)

Watching this video suddenly made me remember when I was building a custom computer probably in the late 90s early 2000-s I had a rare ram that wasn-t out for long but it was super fast and not many computers took it it was called Rambis Ram. My computer I built with the Rambo-s ram gives today-s boot ups a run for their money I had that thing from off to boot it up quick boot wasn-t on and it would boot up under a minute

Regarding ps1on pc, its been a wild ride man. in the 90s you could get an emulator off the shelf. Today they sue you into oblivion for anything commercial and yet sell their own commercial emulators that cant even do fog while they throw you in gd jail for hacking the switch. Face palm Nintendo. I can still buy the executer chips but you want to ruin peoples lives. You suck.
edit - sorry for the rant.

Oh man the SoundBlaster AWE64 gold is awesome. IIRC it was based on a e-mu sampler and with the software included you could actually upload samples. It's what I used as my first low budget sampler in the mid 90's. I actually had the AWE32 in combination with Cubase as my main sampler and then some external midi synths. You should definitely try out the sample function on it one day.

I kinda wanna see someone build a modern system with the form factor of that last Sharp luggable. It looks like a little 21: 9 display would perfectly replace that one, and just imagine someone building a ridiculously high-end PC into a little unit like that, with a clippable mechanical keyboard.
Yet another 'awesome sleeper' idea I'll never have the means to make happen.

QQP made my parents' favourite game, Solitaire's Journey from 1993. And they're still playing it nearly 30 years later thanks to some DOSBox trickery by yours truly to make it run on their modern machine with just a click of on an icon. Not sure if they're considered abandonware or what, but I'm sure many others would appreciate it if you archived those games somewhere.
