The theme song is indeed amazing, especially the re-mix called Master of Magic (OJ Osc's medieval mix. Back in the day, I enjoyed the game right up until I died, re-started, died, re-started, died, and repeat until I gave up for the week. Now having complete with the walk-through, I see where I made my mistake. It would've been one of my favourites for sure if the progression was intuitive instead of gnostic. I'd recommend players try it at least once, get frustrated, then use the walk-through. Nice review, short and sweet just like the game itself.

Hi from Korea! Always watching your show, and always lovin' it.
I did a bit of research on the theme song of this, and it seems to have some interesting story behind the scene. It seems that when Rob Hubbard composed this song, he 'stole' this song from Larry Fast and added more stuff. The 'original' song is called -Shibolet- from Fast's album -Synergy: Audion- from 1981. Here's the link if anyone's interested:

Thanx for all the vids!

Wow, what a cool theme. I think I've heard it before. It sounds like something I might have heard in a movie. It instantly reminds me of medieval fantasy. On Rob Hubbard's Wikipedia page it says the song was -inspired by -Shibolet and an End to History- from the Synergy album Audion-. So karnella pretty much nailed it.
And you said the composer name was -Ron-, but I think you meant to say -Rob-.

Not Master of Magic. Master of Magic wasn't even put onto the C64.
I do believe if you look at this game you've reviewed, it's called -The Master of Magic-. There's a HUGE difference.
How can someone be so ignorant (or uneducated) of the very thing they like?
Scrolling down someone mentioned the exact same thing 2 years ago and you've done nothing to fix your error.

Just a very small suggestion. Rename this video as -The Master of Magic. - You see, -Master of Magic-, as I think you know, considering your vast collection of games, was made by Microprose, and was an entirely different game. The word 'the' at the beginning, makes all the difference. Be careful not to omit words in your title.

-Dakkiller1 I would if I knew of any. That's exactly why I use a PAL machine. Many games will start to work then freeze after a while or just slow at the incorrect speed with wank sound. Bounder, 1942, Klax and Delta are some examples of those I've tried that kind of sort of don't work.

I would have loved to have this vor my C64 back when I was a kid. However the only RPG game I got for it was Maze Master which was kinda similar as barts tale in the game mechanics. (Maze Master was actually one of the few games on the C64 which I actually finished.

Played the ZX Spectrum version again today after many years, and completed 1st time through! As a kid I found the game really hard. But still a great game. The music on the C64 version is great. Speccy has no music: (

good heavens! the theme song sounds so familiar. There's this old cassette tape we have by the band -synergy- It's the exact same song. it was either made in the late 70's or early 80's. I need to go look for that tape.

The music for this game both spooked me and awed me as a kid. Never did complete it though. Didn't understand English well at the time, so it was just a lot of trial and error.
Still great memories though: -)
