Y make it harder than it is by demanding tape is cut by 1 mil only? I'm sure even 2mm won't mek a difference. Even not doing it won't mek too much of a difference if u crease n flush well enuf. N y cut initial piece by 30 in first place? Jus cut off wot u need but u literally measured it. Jus y?
Itll probably reduce drag by a negligible amount but is it worth it unless ur actually going for world record?
Anyhow thanx for the video n well done on the record

the alternatives for ALL of the materials except 2 are-
1. 2 15mm ice-cream sticks glued together for crease folder
2. use your normal scissors and sharpen it with aluminum foil
3. normal cello tape
4. measure 30mm on an mm scale
5. the clip like john said
6. an added bonus for beginners a pencil/marker

This is all SO wonderful. I have one question, please: Is the application of tape on the paper plane accepted by Guinness? It doesn't have to be 100% pure paper, with nothing added? I was under the impression that using tape is not allowed. Thank you very much for bringing us this video. Best wishes.

It's obviously a great design. I don't know what the exact rules are for the world record but it apparently allows tape.
When we were kids competing for -best paper airplane- we always agreed that it should be 8. 5 x 11- paper and no tape, staples, paper clips, whatever.

the record could easily be beaten if the plane is made using technology instead of hands. it's just that throwing paper airplanes for world record in distance is literally so niche that nobody would waste their resources on it.

I would try to make really awesome paper planes when I was a kid using these same methods, I used fancy kinds of paper and different kinds of tape and all I ever ended up achieving was making a really bad paper plane

I like how even on the world record paper plane he wrote 1/2/2011 and crossed out the one for a two. I feel better about doing that every year now.

This informative video could have been made much shorter by simply showing the areas to be taped and the size of the tape and leaving it at that.
