What if the Crusades Succeeded? Marwan: To be fair, no other country has existed for (even close) as long as Egypt; they were the sole superpower in the world for like 2000 years then they declined (still always stayed as a major power. I would argue the reason why there were no revolutions against foreign rulers is the same as why no Egyptian city was ever sacked: life was too good in Egypt, much better than most places in the Mediterranean (they were wealthy and didnt care about who rules as long as their religious rights and money is protected.
Egypt might be the only grounding fact that exist in history (it was always there, always used as reference, and holding the exact same geography.
Funny that you chose the 7th, the crusaders were no match for the Mamluks; even when they conspired the Mongols against the Mamluks, still, the Mamluks continued to defeat them both.
Btw, ainjalut was just the start, Mamluks defeated mongols in dozens of battles.

Crusade I (1095) was launch AFTER:
460 years Muhammed, muslim prophet conquer first Christians city Tabuk - Byzantine empire
450 years Jerusalem fall to muslim
440 years first attack to Sicily, they conquest it completely on 827
380 years Muslims caliphate conquest Spain/Iberia, colonizalize it 700 years
360 years Muslims attack Bordeaux, Charles Martel able to repel this attack so they never reach Paris and out France land.
Just imagine modern, Saudi, Morocco, Libya attack Spain, France, Israel, Italy. Will they wait more than 300 hundred years to gather the ally and attack back? I dont think so.
Crusades was not initiate as warmonger fight or glory and gold (what we get in dessert anyway, Christians must defend their sisters and brothers. And they are very very late!

Good video but you weren't able to discuss the different sociatal factors once the Crusaders conquered Egypt because that will dictate how they will last. A badly ruled Crusader Egypt wouldt last long with the sea of Muslims and Coptic Christians so it's very important to discuss how Crusaders will deal with them especially with the Coptics. Also the relations with the ERomans is also critical and I would like to believe the Romans would have lasted longer with a crusader kingdom in Egypt

It's hard to imagine, the imaging Crusades being successful and then falling to the Mongols or Ottomans. Again, the Crusades failed because of political disunity, with the best of England and France being too invested on the homefront to dedicate themselves to properly to maintaining the Crusader presence in the Holy Land.
If the Crusades were successful, European castles and heavy cavalry charges would continue to win the day eight days a week.

If Godfrey had reigned longer, if fulk asked for a stronger military presence, if Baldwin didnt have leprosy, if raynald of chatillon reigned in the attacks, if Richard had legitimate issue, if guy and sybilla werent attached at the hip, if Saladin was beat at hattin, if Frederick II just no, if acre held out longer just a few ideas that wouldve contributed to a longer lasting crusader presence

8: 30 Actually, believing that witches are real was a heressy in the Middle Ages. Belief in witches and witch hunting appeared in the Early Modern period, parallel with the Inquisition.
It is quit telling that most of the myths about the shitty life in the Middle Ages are actually true for the Early Modern period.

1 thing for sure wether your Crusade's history ending went alternately or not, you will never gets to hear something similarly as this narrative from us Muslims. because you'll never believes if we told you what is the true purpose of the Muslim community chalipates empires on the matter of Jerusalem.

The Muslim had taken over 2/3 of Christian Europe. Parts of Spain, Italy even Hungary and neighboring countries were taken over by Muslims. The Christian took back these lands and help the Eastern Christian maintain some lands. If Muslim continued their expansion we might all be speaking Arabic.

The crusaders killed every man women and child when they took over jerusalem.
And when muslims conquered jerusalem in 1187 by the leadership of Saladin no one was killed.
I recommend you reading about Saladin.
But Apparently some right wing people think it was defensive
