In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime, and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. And if you already knew that, there’s a good chance it’s because you’ve watched N-B-C’s long running police-procedural-slash-legal-drama, Law and Order, or one of its roughly six hundred spin-offs. Famous for its split perspective between two sets of protagonists, Law and Order not only became one of the biggest shows of the 90s, but also one of the biggest franchises in the history of television. Did you watch these shows Which was YOUR favorite Let us know in the comments!

I'm not sure if many know this, but New York Undercover, which originally aired on FOX and is now on Peacock, was a Law and Order spinoff. You can find early promo meterial where the New York Undercover logo is in the same font as law and order. The biggest giveaway is that actress Carolyn McCormick appears in law and order, law and order trial by jury, criminal intent, SVU, and New York Undercover as Dr. Elizabeth Olivet, indicating it was all the same universe. The show was also shot exactly the same and could've easily crossed over with any others. New York Undercover was also touching on the child abuse and svu style cases yesrs before SVU.

Can you another video that expands on Law & Order with every other show that crossed over it This would include including Homicide: Life on the Street (based on David Simon’s 1991 novel Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets) and the Chicago Franchise (which so far includes Chicago Fire, Chicago P. D, Chicago Med, and Chicago Justice.
By the way, I’m surprised you didn’t even mention the Chicago Franchise at all.

'You're not a nyc actor until youve got a L&O credit. '
Been hearing that one for thirty years.
They named a street here, Jerry Orbach Way by Times Square after Jerry Orbach.
Not to be weird (haha, but he donated the corneas in his eyes (Orbach had perfect vision, and I think someone's still walking around using them. Couple ppl actually.

I am just a plain Law and Order girl.
I fell in love with the first episode in 1990.
I was sad AF when George Dzundzda left. I Ioved his role.
I never really watched any other spin offs.
None of them are my cup of tea.
I was too partial to the first.
But I am happy AF to see all of them on Hulu.
Thank God.

I love Law and Order. I probably know all episodes. I can watch it over and over again. When SVU came out, I watched that for a few seasons but never got into it. I never watched any of the other spin offs. I did learn that Law and Order’s intro was based off of Dragnet intro according to Wolfe

Criminal Intent's format of a highly quirky Detective Goren [D'Onofrio] very much in tune with NYCs various cultures and subcultures, partnered by an intelligent, experienced Detective Eames [Erby] struck me with it's similarities to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in Victorian London.

SVU is probably the most successful version but it's hard to keep up with since it's been on so long and their stories aren't as good as they once were. However I think Wolf should be done with L&O and just stick with the Chicago shows, specifically Chicago Fire.

There's a Law & Order Toronto now Wat I lived in Toronto for over 4 years. I saw the worst the city has to offer. It's VERY milquetoast. Nothing there is worth making a crime drama show over. This like the Great Lakes Avengers or something.

5: 55 Dianne Wiest won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress!
She won for her performance as Holly in Hannah And Her Sisters and as Helen Sinclair in Bullets Over Broadway.
She is one of my favorite actors of all time!

My absolute favorite Law & Order It's Criminal Intent, no doubt. Vincent D'Onofrio is a genius as an actor, those stories just pulled me in, the twists and turns, the psychological aspects of the show. BRILLIANT! I miss it!

Conviction spin off was missed. That was another just Order spin off, but it was about young assistant DAs. I thought it had a chance as the cast was solid, but the writing was weak and didn't stand a chance next to Numb3rs

Bonus points for correctly pronouncing Epatha. (I remember hearing her correct an interviewer one time. That's how I know. ) She was great on L&O, and I loved her before that as Reba the Mail Lady on Pee-wee's Playhouse.

my favorite thing about Law and Order is that it stayed true to the procedural. The characters had deep lore but it was only hinted at, rarely did they linger on long and boring character building monologues.
reply

I absolutely love the LAW & ORDER franchise as a whole. I am currently rewatching the original LAW & ORDER run on DVD. before I found out that it is listed on Disney, of all places. I am currently on season 11.

I stopped watching after Benjamin Bratt left. Then I started watching SCU because of Stabler. I like eye candy. Now I watch all of the old reruns. The franchise is incredibly well written.

You made an error towards the end of the video. It was Anthony Anderson, who left after Season 21. Sam Watersin didn't leave until the middle of Season 23 (2024) and was replaced by Tony Goldwyn.
