In my own Cuban way of interpreting this whole Bay of Pigs Giron fiasco, It ALL! goes back to San Juan Hill, US intervention by Pres. Teddy Roosevelt. To annex Cuba as a associated state of USA. With the passing of time: IF! so, history would of been different. Without a Bay of Pigs and a Oct Missile Crisis! Cuba has never proven to be politicaly mature to govern its own. My father always said this! A man must have the balls to stand in front of a mirror and accept what he sees. Bad or good! this takes guts. One must be man enough to stick your foot in a bucket and then be man enough to take it out! Our people are too prone to vises and other things. Puerto Rico has never proven otherwise under USA. However; both has proven liabel as a State attached to a higher power. We are just not YANQUI material! Our ways are too Islander! too carefree! We don't need no stinking amendment, we dont need a badge! Hell with the law! No self containment! If you must rule, you must show discipline & modesty as a ruler! Antonio Machiavelli. I rest my case against my own! I can critizise my ow cause I was born there! and WHY? Because I want them to be better! An example onto the rest of our world! VIVE le liberte, fraternite, iqualite and I add le humillite May I always be so open onto the world! And to those that disagre I offer; like Marti; a white rose! Our wine is bitter but none the less its our own!

I cant argue that many voters and politicians are clueless and the system drives instability, but a representative republic is what this country was founded on.
Just remember what Harry Truman once said. One of his biggest regrets was creation of the CIA, for they had become too powerful and rogue.

The only good thing that came out of this failed Invasion, irregardless of what started it and why it failed, it made Kennedy really not want to rush into military action. Too many people in power wanted to fire the guns at Cuba, so can you imagine what would have happened during the Cuban Missile Crisis if Kennedy allowed the military to have their way again? Kennedy was not a perfect President, he wasn't even a saint, but he never wanted to make the same mistakes twice when it came to his Presidential responsibilities.

I lived it. Afterwards Parents & I visited Playa Giron for a weekend & stayed in a flat roof block Beach house that was riddled with small arms fire. It was never said, but im sure my Parents ( rip ) decided to bug out later after considering and heartbreakingly leaving behind most of our Family & The Freedom Flights made that poss. 11 yrs old. 1969. No Air Support = we like convertibles & City of Dallas. Ill planned & negligent attemp. Fin.

I don't mean to be offensive but you have a huge mistake on your video. In 1954, the Arbenz regime that was overthrown with the help of the CIA was in Guatemala NOT Mexico. Please educate yourself a little bit more on geography before trying to teach and misinform other people. I am a proud Guatemalan and I don't know where you got your information from but I can assure you that Arbenz is very much Guatemalan not Mexican.

The pattern of lying, manipulating, betraying and claiming to be the saviours of Democracy, was established in Latin America by the USA and keeps getting repeated to this day. This failed strategy has never worked. The bloody disaster at the Bay of Pigs is perhaps the highest profile of those corrupt and immoral attempts to bully anyone who dares to think differently than our elites in Washington, DC.

Glad I stumbled on this video. The biggest surprise to me is the US painted its aircraft in the insignia of another country that it was practically at war with. I would think that would be some sort of violation of the Geneva convention. And if caught those pilots would immediately face a firing squad as war criminals. Just my opinion.

The Part of this stating the CIA wanted the invasion to fail is totally incorrect. Much of this is incorrect. I hope the people who view this read what actually occurred. For example: Kennedy knew the invasion needed naval and air support and Eisenhower planned on this. JFK caused the invasion to fail.

There is a major historical mistake here. The Bay of Pigs happened in April 1961, your video states it happened in 1962. The Cuban Missile Crisis happened in 1962 and it was largely impacted by the tension from the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961.
