Each year in the United States, players of sports and recreational activities receive between 2. 5 and 4 million concussions. How dangerous are all those concussions? The answer is complicated and lies in how the brain responds when something strikes it. Clifford Robbins explains the science behind concussions. And then we have me. A non-athlete, that gets hit in the head with balls a lot anyway, because I guess I'm cursed or something. The worst head injury inflicted by a ball was when some dudes in elementary school decided to throw basketballs to each other as hard as they could to see if they could knock each other over, and they missed and it hit me in the left side of my head, slamming the right side into a solid metal window frame in the process. I got checked for concussion and skull fracture that time and was fine on all counts (sadly, I have two other sever basketball inflicted injuries, but the others didn't involve the head) I also got hit in the head with soccer balls twice in Jr high when some friends of mine wanted me to watch them play soccer during free time (yes, I was sitting on the bleachers NEAR the game, not actually playing) Got some volleyballs to the face then too, most of the basketball injuries were from elementary, but I got hit in the head with one doing homework in the bleachers during gym class in high school once too. Almost got hit with a baseball once, but I dodged it thankfully.
I've never gotten a concussion, but I'm a little concerned all the minor injuries might add up. Problem was I couldn't avoid them since I was forced to be around balls all throughout school. I actually developed a phobia of them since I've been hurt by them so many times. so I really did avoid them as much as I could

I hit my head a couple days ago and haven't been able to blanance since. I've been light headed and fatigued as well, fighting fainting spells regularly and all day. I've been consuming energy drinks and carbs in attempts to fight this as 8 still have work everyday. I haven't been able to tell if this is serious and I should see a doctor or if it's better that I wait for my day off and see how a day of rest effects me as opposed to a day of running around as I'm at work for 8+ hours a day in a grocery store.

Question. got a concussion a few years back, and for about 6 months I was out of it. I recovered and things went back to normal. or so I thought. Then last December to Feb 2020 it came back, at least the symptoms came back and for 3 months I was out of it. But it all came back the 1st week of June, this month, and for 3 weeks, again, I'm in misery. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Is this strange, or something to be expected? And when you say rest the brain, does that include looking at videos on my laptop?

Hi I need advice, I sustained a concussion while boxing 5 months ago, Its been almost 6 months and I still get headaches. My problem is that my parents expected me to go to school/college every day when I should have been resting, please I need advice.
Edit: also I was wondering, they say that I should have plenty of rest but they do not say how many hours per day we should rest, so if you could tell me how long roughly per day that would help a lot.

My mother got into a car accident 1- 2 years ago. she still suffers from symptoms such as constant headaches, sensitivity to light and sound, and difficulty driving at night. while she did not physically hit her head against anything, whiplash still got her. we have done therapy which can help but only short term. is there anything else that might help?

Infographic disagrees with those who were calling that epidemic the Mexican disease. Then calls the flu of 1918, the Spanish flu.
Thats like saying the flat earth society has members all around the globe.

My mother fainted and hit a curb, and came out with depression. She still takes meds today. I am so proud of her for battling her depression and raising a family at the same time. I love you, mom.

Wouldn't it be better if the brain wasn't smaller than the inside of the skull? You know so it wouldn't bounce inside the head in the case of a concussion.
reply

So if you get a hard hit on the head. go to the hospital. you might save your brain and relationships with people, employment and more important things.
