How did Ibn Battuta Explore the World?

How did Ibn Battuta Explore the World? Imagine traveling in his time, the world would feel like a huge mystery. The closest feeling I can imagine is traveling to another planet. The only way to know what other parts of the world look like is through descriptions and maybe paintings, which I imagine arent as commonly shared across different parts of the world compared to how things are today.\r\n

I recall learning about him in History class in Lebanon.
We used to joke about his name because it roughly translate to -Son of a duck-lette- (with lette being like a cute female duck or something.
But the man had impossibly great luck, charisma and will power to do all that travelling.

14th century. what a glorious time to be alive.
He met so many people, so many different cultures. Nowadays, the highest authority most travelers meet are the Customs officers when entering a country. Meanwhile, Ibn is dining with khans, kings, and emperors. Amazing.

Not sure what Bhutta source of income was during his entire life especially he was on the move.
His unorthodox travel routes suggest that he was living on freebies ( charity) entire his life. He would go anywhere as long as it was free, zigzagging the world. -

not ''berber tribes'' they are called Amazigh, they have their own language [Tamazight] one of the oldest, most unique written languages that is still used till this day. They do not like to be called berbers because they have a name Amazigh.

Initially I thought how on earth did he afford such travel thinking in my 21st century mind about paying for lodging and food. But then i realised in those times, people would catch/hunt their own food and sleep anywhere as long it was safe.

So what? He Travelled some parts of Africa, Middle East and Asia - what's so amazing about him? Alexander the Great conquered majority of the known land literally 1600 years before him. Stop glorifying these idiotic Muslim people

A great way to immerse yourself into Ibn Batutta's life is by visiting the Ibn Batutta Mall which is the largest themed mall in the world. It recreates all the places visited by him. All of the discoveries which he made.

Oh, was china exist at ibn battuta's time!
I thought they were exist 80 or 90 years ago.
That's impressive.
Why we never hear any of their glories or they don't know what does Glory mean?

And here i am, thinking I'm somewhat of a traveller. I travel a lot, work for an airline, get free tickets. and yet a person living in the 14th century has seen more of the world than I ever will.

Wow, just heard his name before and never knew about details of his journey. Now he is the greatest explorer of all time for me, he just explored the world without desire to colonize it. Amazing
