Im a Croat whose family fought against the Nazis. First Fascist Italy occupied our lands and started killing Croatian population with the help of Serbian Chetniks. After that they fought the Ustase facists and Bosnian Muslims who were predominently Axis. And in the end we won. Josip Broz Tito almost the whole leadership were Croatian communists. There were bewteen 150. 000 -200. 000 Croat partisans who had to fight against everybody and WE WON!

only on movies. the real truth after the war was not to be told. my grandfather told me the real truth. ordinary typhus scum. they waited for the end of the war and slaughtered unarmed people. the lowest class of people became gentlemen. Cause they were feared by everyone. You were not safe from them. They have committed such atrocities that people rather went silent for 70 years, those who lived through WW2 and not speak about it, that's why. German soldiers asked for a bike, partisans came and took it all and if you objected you were simply shoot.

fun fact. the Partisans were the oly resistance movement to have it's own airforce and the last air combat sortie was conducted by a captured Partisan Ju-87B2 Stuka, followed by 2 partisan Bf109s, on 28. May 1945. . Two days after it's involvement in the Battle of Odzak, the last battle in Europe

It might be true that the Yugoslav partisan movement wad responsible for the sucess of the Soviet armies on the eastern front since the germans were forced to maintain 600, 000 soldiers on the yugoslavian territory, making way less soldiers be able to help on the eastern front.

Because of the rebelious character of the Serbs, German command issued a -100 for 1- policy, killing 100 Serbian civilians for every killed German soldier, and 50 for every wounded one. That is how Kragujevac, Gornji Milanovac and Kraljevo massacres occured.

The Chetnik-s saved 500 US PILOTS. And we-re the original run to the hills fighters. Partisans we-re nothing compared to the chetniks. Look at the battle of CER or battle of Kolubara. The bloodiest battles in Serbia both fought and won by chetniks.

My grandfather was a Partisan. I remember some of the stories he told, the things they endured and the loyalty they had to their homeland. He died in 2001 and he was the greatest man I knew. Thank you

Towards about 1944, the Germans had about 100k men stationed in Yugoslavia doing anti-partisan warfare there. The fighting was brutal, but that's 100k men not in the Eastern Front, Italy, or France.

During WW 2 Yugoslav Partizans killed around 95 k german solders, for comparison Allies killed 350 k at western front. during whole war Partizans managed to tie around 15 german divisions.
