What happened with Liechtenstein in WW2?
video description
One is for paying 5M for saving at least temporary many lives that would have
otherwise been lost in the concentration camp.
Usually for most in such a camp the time would have been short.
If Id been in a camp, I think I would have prefered some agrarian work over
breathing nervegas. Also, it would have meant better and more food and accomodations too.
The winters would have been extremely cold and the Germs didnt want to spend on heating
anything but their own butts.
Then when the war was over, and every nation got their stuff back and reparations happened,
the Liechtensteins got rewarded zero return, despite of their neutrality and yet aiding somewhat
the continued survival of at least some of the camps inhabitants, zero of their property.
I guess the saying, no good deed goes unpunished, the devils maxim, applies here.
But.
If it goes indeed punished, well, be glad to bear that burden and stay a poor kingdom,
where to my astonishment everyone does well, except the royal family.
Noble are they whom prefer prosperity of their nation above their own,
which is more noble than any nobility besides that.\r\n

Liechtenstein-
Throughout the past decades, Liechtenstein continuously claimed restitution for 1, 600 km2 (620 sq mi, or an area roughly ten times the size of Liechtenstein, of land currently located in the Czech Republic. The land was partially confiscated from the Liechtenstein family in 1918 with the rest of the property being confiscated in 1945 after the expulsion of Germans and confiscation of German property. The Czech Republic insisted that it could not acknowledge or be responsible for claims going back to before February 1948, when the Communists had seized power. -
As a result, Liechtenstein did not diplomatically recognize the existence of the Czech Republic as a new state (and, for that matter, also that of the Slovak Republic) until 2009. -
In July 2009, the Prince of Liechtenstein announced he was resigning to the previous unsuccessful claims to property located in the Czech Republic, and on 13 July 2009, after politically recognizing one another, the Czech Republic and Liechtenstein formally established diplomatic relations. [2][3]

The only reason Switzerland was not attacked was that many senior German officers had money and values siphoned away to Switzerland and these would be valueless if under German rule. The same happened in 1672 when The Netherlands was attacked by France and its allies, the French were victorious with ease, but Louis XIV's soldiers refused to continue to march on Amsterdam as their 'assignats' were to be paid, ultimately, by Dutch bankers in Amsterdam. Read e. g. professor Schama's The Embarrassment of Riches, which describes this in detail.

Didn-t the German criminals need the Swiss criminals to hold their stolen gold, etc, for them until after the war? Making Switzerland part of the Reich makes it part of the crime and gives the Allies cause to snoop around the Swiss books, where they would find billions of stolen wealth, and it would fill the criminals' escape route with nosey Americans. Die Schweiz had to remain independent and neutral for the greater plan to work.

This video makes zero sense. There was zero incentive or reason to invade Switzerland or the irrelevant Liechtenstein. They went into Belgium because it was strategically necessary so Germany showed they would do what was necessary regarding neutral states. What reason would they have to cross the mountains South? Spain was neutral. Italy was an ally.

Utterly disgusting to say the least for you to allude to and cross reference official Nazi German doctrine for which there is no justification at all. A disgrace to the memory of the 5. 99 million Jews who were brutally murdered by the Nazis during the second World War. Thank you very much and have a most wonderful day --

Those other countries STOLE from tiny Liechtenstein when they seized those properties. That is hideous. They should be FORCED to return this property as well as PAY punitive damages to poor old Liechtenstein. I'm wishing Liechtenstein the very best luck!

It seems like the smaller a country is (and the larger a country is, the less chance it has of being occupied. It's a case of it's so small, we can easily conquer it, so why bother? :-)

Oil & Petrol chemicals: What did Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Finland & Sweden do about petrol/gasoline in the war years? I am not aware of a petrochemical industry there. Thanks.

Your pronunciation is awful. Your historical facts are incorrect and sloppily researched. If you are going to make Europe for Dummies (Americans) videos, at least get your facts right.

Good video, but some negatives I'll say is the times in which the video states the same claims several times, such as the Pan-German idea.

The Swiss military industry might have been useful for Germany, but not at all worth opening yet another front to get access to.

Effectively adding another war front and another, rather powerfull, army to fight. Switzerland would have been a nightmares.

Is there a large capital city ruling over Liechtenstein making it a modern city state or is it just a small county?
