Why didn't the Allies declare war on the USSR when they invaded Poland?

Why didn't the Allies declare war on the USSR when they invaded Poland? Because they started the war and they needed the war to end Germanys economic domination of Europe. When Germany was outperforming the entire world after having their colonies stripped in WW1, the West had no choice but to stop German progress and success even if it cost tens of millions of peoples lives. World domination was at stake. They were in bed with the communist devil and they owed their souls to the global elite. The USSR was committing genocide on its own people, others and still the Allies loved it. They didnt care. They didnt care about Poland either. Poland was only an ally in order to create war. The Polish government was corrupt and murderous and everyone knew it. Allies dont care. Thats why Versailles was signed in the first place. To cause the problems that would lead to WW2.\r\n

Because they were smart, unlike a sizeable proportion of commenters in this thread.
Why would anyone declare war on a nation that they had NO practical way of attacking. A nation of IMMENSE resources, which had made a temporary peace with its number 1 sworn enemy.
The foolish, clueless kids on here would declare war against the USSR, and in doing so drive the world's largest resource pool into a solid pact with the world's number 1 military power in 1939.
No FAR more effective to declare war on one, drive a wedge between them and let the situation simmer, awaiting the inevitable conflict between the nazis and the USSR, letting their -friendship- come to the boil as it did on 22nd June 1941.
Good job the half wits in these comments had no effect on the decisions made in 1939.

nerds in the comments: 'poland was betrayed', 'noo czech was betrayed', 'noo germany was betrayed'
Who cares who got betrayed, this is history, it doesn't affect you. If you want to argue which hundreds of thousands of people died and who stabbed them in the back, you are wasting your time. If you are so smart you want to argue about who got betrayed, how about you go to the trenches of World War One as a French soldier on the Western front and see why they 'betrayed everyone'. Fr I thought you guys were better then that

Stalin was already histories biggest mass murderer, england and the United States made histories biggest mass murderer win histories biggest war, only the Germans were out to stop Stalin, but histories biggest mass murderer had to be protected, had to be given more than enough to win WW2, enough in fact to assure a 1949 Communist victory in China, Roosevelt's conduct of the nations defences assured our Nationalist Chinese allies couldn't effectively resist the communist Chinese armies supplied by the USSR.

-These three principles - ruthless competition, free trade at any cost, and the investment of money without any regard to blood, nation, or race are fundamental to the international capitalism in the interests of which Britain has mobilized her forces to destroy National-Socialist Germany. - - William Joyce, -Twilight Over England-, 1940

Good video; a little known fact is that after the invasion of France on 25 november of 1940 the Soviet Union offered to join the axis if a series of demands were met; Germany didn't respond, and we all know what happen next, but we were very close to a completely different world had the Germans and Soviets came to such agreement

-. Polish people to believe that they had been betrayed? - Is that propaganda or fact? UK and US sold Poland (and the rest of central europe) to Soviet union due to UK politics.
Btw, south France totally collaborated with Germany and then suddenly was on alliance side )

The allies had proof that USSR was an aggressive power by 1939 already. They took chunks forcefully of the baltic states and Romania.
If they wanted more proof of how evil the USSR was just look at the communism that fell over eastern Europe following 1945.

I had a polish friend tell me about this, he was surprised to find that us scots refused to turn our back on the poles
Scotland never turned their backs on poland
Britain did
Scotland took the homeless poles in because britain refused to help

reply

I find it interesting that the media back in those days always took the position of seeing Germany, Italy & Japan as the enemy ( the bad guys) and yet prior to the First WW, England had invaded India, South Africa, Hong Kong and France-Indo China, etc.
reply

My Grandfather came from Poland when the USSR invaded. When he came to America through Ellis Island he signed up with the US Military and was put in a group called the Polish Falcons, flew back to Poland and fought against Stalin and his regime
reply

Because the Airlies gave a FAKIN DAM for -Poland's independence-, or anybody's indeoendence for that matter, as they were only exclusively, pathologically, paranoidly OBSESSED with their HATRED for and their FEAR of Germany.
reply

Britain declared war on Germany two days after Germany invaded Poland because of the invasion. Germany was given an ultimatum to withdraw its troops and it failed to do so. Britain was then at war with Germany for six years.
reply

Yea, that would have been a great idea. Bring the Nazis and Soviets closer so you can fight both, instead of letting them destroy each other. Declaring war on the Soviets would have been the dumbest decision in history.
reply

Because the Polish treaty only existed to be against Germany. Because it was never about Polish sovereignty. Because it was only about destroying Germany. UK and France are disgusting war mongering war criminals
reply

France and the UK feared forcing Germany and the USSR into an alliance when in reality it was an alliance in all but name only invading Poland and having secret protocols to carve up Central and Eastern Europe
reply

-Poland had the bad luck to. -
at this point you can just shuffle your card deck to fill in the answer and it wouldn't be historically innacurate at all.
I love you Poland --

reply

Poland was not a democracy itself, and had a non-aggression pact with Germany signed in 1934. Their secret police cooperated in rooting out socialists and repressing trade unions.
reply

The UK eventually declared war on Finland to satisfy Stalin though they never attacked there. But he USA maintained normal relations with the Finns throughout the war.
reply

With all due respect poles are kinda white, but not completely european. You can't be expected to defend every forein nation in the world all the time like we do now.
reply

oh nooo, it sat next to two undemocratic regimes, what a terrible thing, i'm sure democracies never declared wars of conquest before. dumbest statementent ever.
reply

8: 48 very correct
BUT
7: 46 is wrong
Germany had better army in the west than France.
France have 0 chance to seriuos invade Germany in 1939.

reply

This video doesn't show that polish army was already defeated when ussr invaded to prevent Germans from coming to the borders of ussr
reply

An Anglo-French declaration of war on the U. S. S. R, however well-intentioned, would have been impractical, if not suicidal.
reply

THANKS GOD I dound the video to my questions I always wondered why allies didnt declare war thank you so much!
reply

That-s why France and uk need big brother usa as the world police so that they can fulfill their treaties-
reply

Because the British treaty only applied to the invasion of Poland by Germany. There you can skip the video.
