Hey there! Today, Florida and North America entered a new era with the opening of the Orlando extension of the very first private intercity passenger service in North America-. Brightline. My previous experience with them was simply outstanding. Now you can travel between Orlando and Miami - car free, carefree with a total respect of the planet! Trains are the future, not planes folks. Mark my words - TRIP INFORMATION - INAUGURAL RIDE - SEPTEMBER 22ND 2023 Railway company: Brightline Train type: SCB 40 and Venture cars (Full Siemens consist) From: Orlando to Miami Time: 3h38 Price: $79 (Smart Class) $149 (Premium) Thanks to -LonestarTrips for the spot

i'm extremely excited to regularly use brightline for orlando-miami trips, as i'll be a UCF student starting in the spring. everything about it is awesome but i do wish the trains went faster, so it could really be considered high speed rail but i understand why they cant. one other minute 'critique' i have is the boarding procedures. i'm not sure if it's because that was day 1, and festivities are sure to occur, but i prefer the boarding systems of other rail systems that feel a lot more free. i. e less like an airport where everyone boards at the same time in what is basically a single file line, and more like metro systems where people are 'free' to board however they please, within the time frame.

Not a good time saver for any one that does not live along train route like Orlando fl. it takes me an almost 2 hours in mourning traffic from Lakeland fl. to Orlando fl. by car ( It used to take a hour or less by car not now since we experience major backups on I - 4 Due to poor road management by the gov, such as Dropping 2 lanes of traffic of Route 27 onto 3 lanes east I - 4 and I can be half way to Miami by then. ) Passenger trains should updated like over seas that drop of its customers without stopping the train ( what a time saver and fuel saver ) ( SO BRIGHTLINE you need to back to the drawing board and if it has railroad crossing there will be train wrecks at 200 mph )

At the Cocoa highspeed segment (11: 00) it seemed that your coach had a flat wheel or something! The rattling sounded very unpleasant and would simply be unacceptable in Europe (especially at such low speed of only 125 mph (ie 200 km/h. If an Austrian Railjet would make such a sound at 200 km/h, I would rather be worried! Dunno if this was the coach or the track - in any event rather disappointing! (But the problem seemed to be limited to one Coach only, because the other coaches seemed to run as smooth as expected) But that they run their inaugural train with a train set with flat wheels seems somewhat worrisome as far as proper maintenance is concerned!

I'm glad they have a train that goes from Orlando to Miami, but I hope one day they will have a terminal in Cocoa Florida so passengers from Orlando international can get on the cruise ships at Port Canaveral Florida or go to South Florida. Also the terminal will help people travel South Florida that lives in Brevard county cocoa instead of driving all the way to Orlando to get on the train. The train already goes to Brevard county cocoa, so that does not make any sense driving to Orlando to get on the train to go south Florida. Thank you for showing video.

Thank you for the grand tour of Brightline passenger service. Florida should be fortunate to have such a system. I wish this country would have the courage to modernize its current miles of tracks to accommodate high speed rail like those in Europe and Asia. Granted it would take billions of dollars to do this, and politicians are forever divided on the issue. But there is nothing wrong with better ideas to help move people faster on the ground. I can't wait to hear of expansion with Brightline.

According to the Federal Railroad Administration, Brightline has received a total of $530 million in CRIS grants as of August 4, 2023. Brightline is currently seeking a $3. 75 billion federal grant through the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant Program (FSP. It is important to note that tax-exempt bonds are a public-private partnership, and the savings to Brightline are ultimately borne by taxpayers. SO MUCH FOR A -PRIVATE MONEY- RAILROAD

In addition to this, I saw other's videos abt the Brightline Orlando extension and some of the local news coverage, this is a BOLD STEP FOWARD for intercity rail in North America. In addition to the next gen Amtrak fleet and the new Ventures for VIA Rail Canada, I also hope that Brightline bring more prosperity for passenger rail in NA with the new highspeed line between LA and Vegas, the future is looking bright (pun intended) for railways in the US and Canada.

This is a great start for high speed rail in the US. I just have one concern. We have the 1st Brightline now, but once the people arrive, would it cost more now that they have to either rent a car or get uber? Our cities outside the northeast are mostly pretty car centric. While it is great that we have these trains, getting around upon arrival isn't easy. But hey, it's great we have other HSR in plan! Welcome to the modern age.

Homecoming
CANCELLATION
I canceled my Brightline trip to Miami at the last minute and got a refund after learning all trains today are wrapped in crap that blocks the view and makes photgraphing Florida's less than spectacular scenery damn well impossible. Brightline Customer Service told me the wrap is coming down in January so maybe I'll fly down to the Sunshine State later next year to ride Florida's fastest train.

OMG! I am impressed everything works as its supposed to. Amtrak continues to have issues with thier Sieman Charger locomotives and Venture cars - 5 years after ordering them. And, it took Amtrak 30 years to upgrade the Michigan line from 79 to 110mph. Brightline did the whole thing in just a few years! Maybe there is hope for the future of passenger rail after all. Great video!

This was really cool to watch. I cant believe how quiet that train is on the inside. I live in Vero Beach and watched the tracks being built and now see the trains passing through. Its a shame that they did not put a stop in the area as I would really love to use this. I love taking Amtrak when I can and I really hope that this succeeds and does well.

69 MPH average speed is not world class. This coupled with high costs and negligible time savings vs car ride honestly makes this a horrible example of what true high speed rail can accomplish for Americans. I hope the rest of the country won't use Florida as a benchmark - it's a bar too low to clear especially compared to the rest of the world.

What a great video and railway experience. Wow! They thought of everything! Aesthetics that match the look and feel of Florida, a place to make calls, healthy food. .. my favorite was how they have the Thomas the Tank Engine play stations for kids! What a great idea! Growing the next generation of train lovers. :)

If only we had something like that in Australia! Our major cities are so far apart that flying in really the only practical alternative as the rail links are very slow, if also very cheap. My one worry is that if Brightline takes pax from the airlines they will start a price war. It might not turn out well.

Totally shock if Travelling by car is 4hours vs 3. 5 hours for -high speed train -. Yes u may argue it avoid traffic, what is the # of runs & stops & cost? This sounds like a special train close to the already existing train in Boston 100+ mph train!

Climate change is fake. Even if it were real, the US would be one of the least offenders. Nasty countries like India and China would be the worst and they aren't going to do anything because it is all political. libs will always point fingers at the US.
reply

They-ve gotta sort that wheel flat out, especially if it-s gonna be travelling at 125, from the outside shot, or it arriving at Miami, it sounds pretty big as well- The noise and vibration ruins the comfort and experience of the trip for customers-
reply

Thanks for a very interesting and informative video. The only thing I wish you had talked about a bit more (unless I missed it) was the tracks and the speeds: whose tracks are they, why do they travel at the speeds they do, etc.
reply

What is the compartment that has yellow metal bars that are zigzag? That's reality, not crazy!
I like that there are eye catching colors on the train and the panoramic view windows!
I like Miami's elevated station.

reply

Do other trains run on the Brightline tracks? If so, this is not a world-class passenger rail system. I-ve been to Japan, where nothing but shinkansen run on shinkansen tracks. Are there grade crossings? Same sign.
reply

What was that repetitive percussive noise. Did your coach have a flat-spotted wheel? Also; Maybe it was the way it was recorded, but the train seemed very noisy when compared to its European counterparts.
reply

I hope they get successful enough and make a an extension north to Jacksonville. I'd love to ride a train all the way to Miami from there. I know the current planned expansion is Tampa, which is cool too.
reply

Were you riding backwards? That's what it looked like. We will get Brightline between Las Vegas and California. They have secured the station land in Las Vegas. Not sure how long until we get to ride it.
reply

I can see into the trains at night passing through Stuart. They are almost totally empty. I have no idea how they are making any money on the WPB-Orlando segment with 32 trains per day.
reply

The next big thing they need os public transit to and from the Miami airport. It handles more international flights and tourists from Europe will want the ability to not rent cars
reply

Horrifying, more killing of people than any other train service 100 people have been killed by Brightline. Now they are saying that these people wanted to die? Suicide? Yeah right!
reply

That is fantastic! I had no idea that the frequency of the trains would be so packed. My next trip to Miami I may just have to take a ride and fly home out of Orlando instead.
reply

Brightline is run or was run by Virgin Trains who operated on the West Coast Main Line and East Coast Main Line which Avanti West Coast & LNER now operates on.
reply

the only horrible thing is the window covering that blocks the view, completely useless and unnecessary, I mean it's not even for an add, it's their own yellow thing
reply

Yeah, world class. Without a lounge car, or any specific service name. Totally world class.
Everyone would want to ride an airline cabin on rails.

reply

I complained to Brightline about the wraps blocking the view and was told they will come down in January 2024 after my Florida trip in December 2023.
reply

Looks interesting but they ban Swiss Army Knives and multitools which makes them worthless to me. Odd on a train and frankly incredibly paranoid.
reply

Please experience Comport, High Speed & High Tech WHOOSH train in Indonesia(218mile/hour. US$15 for 107mile travel.
UNIVERSE-CLASS Passanger Train

I-me so sad that a train is running diesel in such a environmently focused county as Miami. Hoping it will go full electric in the future.
reply

Window wrap would kill it for me. I totally agree with you that they should remove them ASAP! Great service, I hope they survive commercially!
