Our train has just meandered along the pretty branch line from Buckfastleigh to Totnes Riverside, built to allow heritage trains to serve Totnes via a new footbridge over the River Dart without incurring the costs and complications resulting from South Devon Railway trains using the British-Rail station, although it was interesting to see the heritage trains using the same platform as their main-line cousins between 5th April 1985 and the 2nd September 1987. Totnes Riverside station utilised the buildings from Toller station on the now closed Bridport branch. To read more about the history of Totnes Riverside station

Thanks indeed for the ride down memory train. In 1972 and 1973 I worked a 2 week volunteer stint at the railway as part of a group of students from East Herts College. Wonderful memories indeed. Loved doing the work. The route seems a lot less -straggly- than it was back then. Also we did get to enjoy sitting on the buffers of the loco when we went to Totnes to move a lot of rail from the BR 'side' of things to the DVR side.

What wonderful landscapes! Those who board this train never need a destination. They are images far beyond imagination, where time takes time to pass, providing us with stories from fiction books and adventures. Congratulations on your choice!

Thanks Tim, that was an excellent video. Full of your signature quality and soundscape. Only the scent of the nearby fields, livestock and woodlands was missing for a fully immersive experience! Peter
