5 Best Trucks to Buy When You re Broke blackcobra95: I bought a 2005 Silverado with 26k original miles for 1500. The body needs attention but the history on it was that it was an ex fleet vehicle. Maintenance was kept to point of this vehicle not burning or leaking any oil. The body can use some attention when I get around to it and the only maintenance I've done out side of oil changes was a windshield, Front rotors and passenger spindle which was done within a month of ownership.
I've put less than 500 into sense I got it a few years ago.

A couple of years ago I picked up a 99 F350 4x4 crew cab dually with a 7. 3L diesel for 4500. I had to hunt and traveled more than 1000 mi. Several folks had passed up on this truck. The 4x4 doesn't work, the body and bed are rusted through in places, the air box is cracked, the AC don't work and the windows won't roll down, etc.
Most of the folks looking at this truck were kids (twentysomethings) that want to hotrod a 7. 3. I needed a tow monster. All I cared about was if the frame was sound and the bottom end of the engine was tight. Everything else I can fix.
If I tried to get a 7. 3 Superduty in good working order I'd have spent well over 15k. If you want a good work truck on the cheap, don't be afraid of a fixer-upper.

Wow, Where Are These Correctly Priced Trucks That Your Refering Too?
In The DFW Area There Extremely Overpriced. The Asking Price For The Average 10 Ten Year Old Truck w/200+miles Is 10k.
Needless To Say, Anyone With Half A Brain Will Buy A Brand New Truck Before Spending That Kind Of Money On A DEPLETED Truck. This Is Because Its Going To Cost The Buyer Another 5 To 10k To Make It DECENT.
Hell Its Worth Spending Another 10k On A New Truck Just To Avoid All The Repair Work Plus They Get A Warranty.
The Sorry Pukes In DFW Area Who Are Overpricing Their Used Trucks Are Fooling Sadsacks Into Paying For Half Of Their New Trucks For Them.

So many people in the comments of these videos saying crap like: I have a 2001 Chevy Silverbullet 9001. It has 540, 000 miles, and has never given me a single problem in the 10 years I've owned it. It can tow continents together and gets 600 mpg. It is insane how beyond butthurt people get because they happen to own a vehicle Scotty doesn't like. Scotty isn't personally attacking your brodozer guys. All he is doing is giving his professional opinion.

Hey Scotty, does an engine wear if its towed cross country?
I'm looking at a 96 ford ranger with 390k miles for 2. 5k
Looks great, he claims to have does a lot of work to it.
But he says he towed it cross country behind his motor home for years.
I'll obviously have someone hopefully as good as you to check it out
But do you think its even worth checking? Thanks

I remember a 'MAD' magazine spoof of logo brands. One of them featured the 'Ford' blue oval stating 'Bring back a car we can Af-Ford' with a Model T for 500. I've been looking for the last 4 months and everyone selling used is smoking crack or off in the head. One used car featured an entire front clip missing with headlights held on by wire for ONLY 2000! with 250k.

Scotty I doubt you see this but I hope. I have an 81 toyota pickup 22r with new Weber carb, distributor, ignition, plugs, wires, and have a mechanical pump, also have a fuel regulator. The problem is once in a while it dies out while going down the road, also backfires sometimes. I may have a small manifold leak but not see if that could cause that. Any thought?

I don t know what the used truck market is like where Scotty is but the best deal on a used Tacoma where I m from was 6800 with 126, 000 miles with the 4 banger. I was able to get a used Ranger with 32000 miles for 7000 with the 4 banger.

I used to have a 1985 Nissan 720 pickup. That thing was a tank. The previous owner abused it, but the 2. 4 liter (Z24) engine still ran like a top, and the 5-speed manual transmission worked great. I wish I had never sold that truck.
