Wheel Bearing Replacement. Learn how to replace a wheel bearing hub assembly. This is a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer, Ford Explorer but the process will be very similar for replacing any wheel bearing hub assembly with an axle running through it. I was quoted over 650 at the stealership to do the job again so save a ton of money and do it yourself and do it properly so it wont fail again. Here is the wheel bearing hub assembly I used

Hey Chris, Im trying to diagnose if my 98 Lexus ES 300 needs wheels bearings. Just bought the car and doing full restoration. My abs, traction control, and brake light are on. Brake light I believe is entirely different story the cable is snapped. But the other two Im hoping its the wheels bearings for those lights and not the abs module. My question is the traction control light is not only on, its blinking. Do you know why it would be blinking? Thanks

If a grease fitting was incorporated into the wheel bearing design would the bearing last longer? I ran a K-Car for 252, 000 miles and the rear bearings were in great shape. I would pull the rear wheels every couple of years to inspect (1/2 hour chore) and I would hand pack some replacement wheel bearing grease.

We replaced the hub bearing assembly on a 2004 mercury mountaineer my first time had trouble with the back bolts little room got it a bit stripped but power tool and torch got it out the rest was cake the slide hammer didn't get it off so we used hammer and chisel no problem thanks Chris

I replaced one of these with a buddy a couple years ago. At one point I got super frustrated and was like WHY ARE THESE DAMN THINGS SO HARD TO GET OFF?
He claps back: because if it were easy any damn piece of junk in the road could do it and we'd all be dead

While watching, I always think of my neighbor mechanic if they are really honest to fix where they should be or not. I live in South East Asia. Scam prevails if owner is not aware of the problem. They can cheat on customers as usual for money pit scam.

I wish now I had watched this video first. It really was one of the best ones I've seen. now I'm stuck with a seized bearing, having to work around not popping the axle through first. Thanks Chris that was the best walkthrough of all I've watched.

Is there different options for bolt lengths on the hub bearing? If I add a small spacer I cant throw the lug nut on and would like something smaller than 15mm which is a tight fit. 10mm would be the fit bit run out of thread grip.

Man - wish I'd watched this last week - I never thought of leaving the brake caliper attached to the rotor! lol - love the torch and hammer combo too.

When I did this to my truck, I used ABSOLUTELY no force to take off my axle nut. Good thing I have a torque wrench and torqued it down to spec

It's crazy to see how the videos have changed over the years, but the quality of instruction has stayed just as good. Love your shit bud!
