How often do you change the oil in a Ford Ranger?
How often does Ford Ranger need an Oil Change? An oil change is one of the most basic and basic services for your car. Synthetic oil usually should be changed each 7, 500 - 10, 000 miles. Ford recommends getting your 2019 Ford Ranger oil & filter changed each 3, 000-5, 000 miles for conventional oil.

You say car recommends 5W30 but filler cap and owners manual (I have the same truck) both say 5W20 semi synthetic motor oil. Got 173K on mine. Why the change in weights? Plus I swapped out the rear drum brakes to mustang gt disc brakes. Had to add a Lokar park brake cable though.

Why is your oil so dirty right after changing it? I have the same truck, a 98 Ranger, with the same 3. 0L. I have 190, 000 on mine. When I change the oil, for the first 500 miles, or so, the oils so clean, you can barely see it on the dip stick.

Warm engine before oil change
Make sure you don't double gasket filter
Rub new oil on new gasket
Fill oil filter 1/4-1/2 with new oil
Check oil
After fist run and after first full drive
Clean intake filter

I see the link you used for the filter pliers is different than what you actually used. If possible, could you link the item you used because I have had no luck using traditional oil pliers/wrench.
I appreciate you.

Hey Chris, I have a 2004 Ford Ranger and it seems like the oil will drip from the oil filter over the electrical components of the starter. Is that the same issue for your Mazda and if so what did you do?

I have a 2004 Ranger with the 3. 0 and always have a hard time starting the threads on the new filter. Just discovered it is much easier from underneath. I drive up on ramps to give me 5 more inches of room.
