American made with global components. This is what Trump does not understand.
Ony the sheet metal is made in USA. The drawer sliders, castor wheels, etc come from other countries, probably China. The situation with other products is the same. I don't know what Craftsman does, but US industry generally is shifting its industrial paint sources from local production to imports.
As an example, Caterpillar, which once made every part of its engines itself, buys crankshafts from Germany, and other engine parts from China.
Decades ago, American manufacturers were vertically integrated (ie made all thee parts in their own factories) or they bought parts from trusted US parts making companies. Same in other countries. These days the use of robots and a lot less labour means that making anything is only viable if you make large volumes for the world market.
So when Trump imposes a tariff on imports, he raises the cost of manufacturing within the USA.

Fascinating and thanks for this. Very enjoyable. I once had the opportunity for a plant tour, but not a manufacturer like this. It was a potato chip factory from peeling through bagging. They were very accommodating and patient answering all my questions. There was one place that were were intentionally rushed through. That was the fryer. Their 2 biggest trade secrets were how long the chips took to get through the frier and the temperature of the oil. So you got rushed through there fairly quickly. Even the temperature gauges were positioned so they could not be seen by anyone given a tour.

You moved to Florida
Years ago we took the starter beekeeping class I was pretty sure you were in the class.
My son was getting bored we left a little early, walked out and I told my son I bets that’s his humvee. My son thought I was crazy. Couple
Videos later you revealed your new dream car, sure enough that humvee we saw at the beekeeping class.
I also knew that neighborhood you shot all your videos from. Very close to me.

I've had about 4 mini 4 drawer boxes. The drawers Jamed shut on them over the years. The only way to get my tools was to pry them with a huge pry bar. Then break them to get the tools out. The locks Also stopped working I had to draw a hole through The locks in order to open some of the drawers I'm apprehensive about buying a full size Crabsman toolbox after all my years And experience with small craftsmen tool boxes.

Cool video, super interesting! But as a european i keep noticing that a lot of automatable things are still manual and could all be automated. Also the amount of overweight and fat people is concerning. You americans love to say that you have the best products but a lot of the machines dont look like their in tip top shape. I guess that's just a thing we do better.

My oldest brother used to work the testing labs for Sears (at Sears Tower in the 3rd basement below ground. He tested those and SO MANY other things it was unbelievable. The amount of testing they used to put stuff through was unfathomable. They had to record EVERYTHING they did and all of the results. He loved testing anything that was craftsman products.

Cool. I actually know where Sedalia is! My mom grew up not far from there in Pilot Grove, MO and I still have cousins that live near Sedalia. I have three Craftsman tool box combos including one set I inherited from my dad. I was already planning on buying one of the big combos and you just reinforced my decision. Thank you.

Its amazing to see something made but its more amazing to see the tools that makes it. the man that made the tooling is way smarter then the tools in the tool box. but it takes a man with a toolbox to make the tooling. amazing amazing thing. let the rollers step by step rolling the metal. Now that man was smart

I was wondering why the trucks came with only two coils. Seemed like a waste of space! Then you mentioned they were 24K pounds EACH. Like HOLY. They can only gross 80K without an oversize placard and the axles to spread the load. That guy was probably near his max capacity and it looked unimpressive lolol.

I am a maintenance tech at a factory that makes very similar products, the only difference is we use powdercoat where I am. Theres a lot that goes into keeping these places running smoothly and safely and this video does an excellent job showing how it all works in a way anyone can understand.

Congrats on the new home! I can’t believe this guy didn’t have his own house for so long making such iconic content I thought he was doing so well for himself. But to get a house in this economy I know trump just took office but I don’t think the market changed that fast

It's pretty funny seeing everyone in brand new gloves and sleeves, you just know one of the managers was sitting in a meeting the week before and said We need to make sure we're looking our best for this, make sure everyone in the plant has brand new gloves and sleeves on that day

Chris come on man! Every year one or 2 videos and now. Boxs and drawers. . You start taking our presence as granted.
Wish you the best we will still support you. Regardless. But try to revive the old things. Tool box and dash came . Not the reason we are here.

I'd buy another after seeing this. Didn't know they were USA made. Isn't that weird We all assume nothing is made here anymore. I have some that are old enough they had to be made here. Although newer drawer guides are much better, those old boxes are still working fine.

I am so glad you got the lift. Been waiting for it for years now and finally it's done.
No fun having to get under a car at my age but numerous cars at any age would a start to wear thin. Congratulations, at least you can do the work in the comfort you deserve.

They are fancy huh. Also presses are a pain to service depending on the job. That doesn’t look too too bad but as a person that works on the tools for gun, medical, and electrical dies they are hell lol but they got some cool ass measuring equipment

Yikes. Trump is about to make this product way more expensive. Hopefully Craftsman took some 'let's get ready for trumps disaster' moves and stockpiled some supplies. It would be terrible if this plant got shut down because of trump but it's a real risk.

Great video Chris! I spent a career in aviation and owned a few different Craftsmen tool boxes over the decades. They were more than adequate for an Avionics tech, so I was able to (barely) avoid the temptation of a SnapOn/Mac/Matco box.

How many tool boxes need to be sold to break even on the investment by craftsman Such complex and unique machinery, design, engineering, maintenance plus labor. It's crazy to think that there's actually that much demand for tool boxes

Regards, Chris Fix the method used to make craftsmen boxes. For three years, I've owned a lot of cracking boxes. I utilized Snap On throughout my professional life. For the price, the workmanship was always the best.
