We ve got our hands on the all-new Toyota Prius! Now we know in recent years the Prius has had the tag of being a bit of a lame car. However, we think the new Prius is absolutely gorgeous, and may now be considered as one of Toyota s coolest cars! But what s so great about it? Well, let s take a closer look. Starting with the design, we are getting some serious Lamborghini vibes from the back! With the swooping headline and the glass area around the taillights, we are getting some serious sports car vibes! Along the side you have smart integrated door handles for the back seats, and then up at the front you ve got the daytime running lights and headlights combined into a cool design. All-in-all, this looks totally different to any Prius we ve seen before And that s a good thing! Step inside, and the cool design themes continue! There s a small digital dial screen for the driver and a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dashboard. Thankfully it also comes with a number of physical buttons, so climate control can also be managed through these rather than through the screen. You ll also find a good bit of storage throughout the cabin, although we also encountered some scratchy plastics. But then again, what would you expect when the car cost from just over 27, 000. When it comes to performance, there s only one engine choice available. It s a 2-litre naturally-aspirated 4 cylinder, coupled with an electric motor. In the entry-level car this drivers the front-wheels only and provides 197hp. It is possible to get an all-wheel drive edition, but the horsepower is almost identical, increasing to just 199hp! There s also a plug-in hybrid variant available, which can produce 223hp while also driving for up to 40 miles on electric power alone. Sadly though, even though the new Prius looks great, it won t be coming to the UK. But the question is, do you agree with Mat - has Toyota finally made the Prius cool!

pity the new TOYOTA Prius HYBRId (RXWU60) AWD 2. 0 I4 28. 3 kWh iSMART 5-Dr e-Hatchback (RHD) won't be sold in Australia & GB. .. wonder the rationale behind not introducing the new Prius (XWR60) HYBRId in RHD markets. .. because poor sales alone couldn't be the only reason. .. in EU markets the TOYOTA Prius HYBRId (RXWU60) AWD 2. 0 I4 28. 3 kWh iSMART 5-Dr e-Hatchback (RHD) needs to be priced lot less. .. no more than 22, 000 - 28, 000 for the top-of-the-line variant including a standard 7-year OEM warranty (across all models) plus free service for 5 years or 60, 200 kms. .. TOYOTA needs to understand that Europe is a tight knit market, it's not as adaptable as Canadian & U. S. markets. .. EU's automobile industry is a market place where the base model/variant of a particular vehicle literally struggle to be sold & very cheap priced cars don't do well in Europe either. .. mid variant & top-of-the-line is what European consumers prefer, not to mention affordability. ..

I drove the new Prius from Tokyo to Osaka and back in Japan in May, and over the course of my driving on the Touge, Tokyo's city roads and some highways, I managed to get 31km/L (which is almost 90mpg) on one run, while the average is still well over 23km/L (roughly equates to 65mpg.
Considering how good this looks and drives, this could be THE new benchmark for doing green things while being cool: )

Design is on top but everything else about it is mid to bad, only plug in which is heavy af, not much space for head in the back seats, thanks to direct injectors - costy to LPG it, also not much space for potentional LPG tank, media system is meh / works but that's all and at where I am at least from it's pricier than corolla lmao

Man I remember this urban tale back in 2010, before tinder and all this dating apps, there was a state in USA, that single gay guys used to buy this car and go alone to the big parking lots of Walmart and Target, it was to recognice other single gay guys and hit on eachother, cant remember the state this was a trend back in 2010

Why isn't it coming to the UK anyway? Edit - forgot there was something on the internet called a search engine. Down to sales - didn't realise how bad they were. Toyota registered only 583 new Prius in 2022 vs 18, 000 Toyota CR-H. We in the UK are on a small-SUV / crossover flex right now.

The great thing about Toyotas, they are reliable as heck. The bad thing about Toyotas is they are uninspiring for 10 years. But, I like this new design. I love that Toyota is hanging onto gas cars. Not drinking the coolaid. I have a 2014 Chevy Volt and would replace it with this.

looks like this one was built in a hurry and coming in 5 years too late. hybrid cars don't sell anymore, most people knows that hybrid dont save us any money, it costs more to operate since the electric autonomy is ridiculous but you need to spend a fortune on batteries.

Europe will obviously not bring these amazing Japanese cars to Europe because what would happen to their market? I mean really not avalable in UK and ony Plugin in the Netherlands? God I wish I could buy the Toyota Mark X in the Netherlands for Example XD

It s better than 99% of the euro cars you can drive it for half million miles without any problem man, better than BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Landrover group it s reliable Car gas saver that s all what we need and it s affordable for the maintenance

That alarm thing is standard in the US for almost all cars btw. I guess they do it because it is so easy to forget where your car was in massive parking lots in the malls. So you can turn on the alarm to find where your car is.

I saw the new Prius yesterday in Chicago and when it was next to 30 other cars in traffic you really notice how sloped back the windshield is. It almost looks flat. No doubt this thing cuts through wind like an arrow.

In Germany the base model without tax 41420 (38000 ) that is a diference of approx. 14000 (12844. Why?
Although i like the car I am going to pass on this one, cause getting fooled has never been a nice experience.

Hopefully Toyota isn't going down the same route as German manufacturers with their quality. This car looks like it's been cutting down corners everywhere. And that CVT gearbox is just a big no for me

7: 36 The materials on the outside are definitely worse than before, I drive a 2009 toyota sedan and the sound from hitting the bumpers and especially the doors closing is so deep and reassuring

Seems like they need to bring the Prius V back for the Uber/Lyft/Taxi drivers. Looks great as a personal car but not for the fleets that made the Prius a massive success in the first place.
reply

I don t understand how it went from one of the ugliest cars ever made to this. It looks like an entirely different company designed it. And it looks even better in person!
reply

i have a prius and they ll never been cooler than a lambo however the design is look much better and i love their gas mileage plus i totaled my last one and walked away unharmed

The CVT behavior makes sense. It s only got 150HP from the engine. My old Volt only has 120HP and weighs more. It s dog going uphill with 4 people onboard. And whines terribly.
reply

Haha that S2000 in the end was the most unexpected thing xD. Matt why don't you do a S2000 review and compare it to roadsters from back then in the similar price range? =D
reply

This is it. This is my straw. I have now confirmed we are living in a simulation. In what realistic universe could we ever possibly compare a Prius to a Lamborghini.
