Our merch store is now LIVE: It’s time for a China vs USA showdown! We’ve got our hands on a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, and it’s going up against a Tesla Model S Plaid! It’s the first time we’ve featured a Xiaomi on this channel, but does it have what it takes to bring down the mighty Tesla Let’s check out the stats First up, we have the Xiaomi. It’s powered by three electric motors, and these combine to produce an incredible 1, 548hp and 1, 770Nm of torque. It comes with all-wheel drive, and it weighs in at a pretty heavy 2, 360kg. In terms of price, it costs 529, 900, which is the equivalent of just 55, 000! Next up, it’s the Tesla. It’s equipped with three electric motors - one on the front axle, and two on the rear. Combined, they produce an almighty 1, 020hp and 1, 420Nm of torque. Naturally, the motors and batteries weigh it down a bit, so it tips the scales at 2, 190kg. In terms of price, you can pick one up new for 113, 000. So the Xiaomi is up on power, but it’s also up on weight! So does it have what it takes to topple the mighty Tesla There’s only one way to find out for sure LET’S RACE! everybody rooting for the xiaomi and insisting it's faster for less money. it didn't win every single race like a lucid sapphire would despite having more horsepower and torque than both cars on paper and couldn't hit it's numbers consistently. Also the guy had drag tires vs stock street tires on the Tesla and it still was able to win about half of the races. Try the race against a track pack or a lucid sapphire, since we don't know how much the package he had on the car costs, just what stock base car costs. Should race with stock tires and it will be tough to beat the tesla at all or a sapphire. Do a drag race with the yang wang car that supposedly has the world speed record but not official and per BYD.

I can not buy this car, so I''m assuming this is a halo car just for the chinese market and they lose money on every unit sold. BUT! Can you carwow people do some extra consumer journalism and figure how they got ceramic breaks so cheap
They must have re-engineered them to avoid some insane licences fees and/or reduced the production cost to 1/10. That alone is worth loking into imho!

It is sad that EU and other countries allow copies to destroy the original brands that spend a lot of money in R&D and high taxes, for the chinise to make copies where they didn't spend a dime in R&D, wages are much lower, they exploid their employees, and taxes are much lower, that is what our governments have allowed to happen, that is why they are a bunch of idiots.

Xiaomi receives significant subsidies from the Chinese government. However, in China, Xiaomi cars have been reported to catch fire and experience major issues just months after purchase. You truly get what you pay for. Even in the video, the Xiaomi car showed multiple problems, but they continued to make excuses. In contrast, the Tesla performed flawlessly.

yeah it's funny how this chinese crap with stolen taycan body and mclaren headlights overheated right in the middle of the races and needed a rest. communist party will cut a left ball off the driver for bad representation and poor complaining on the cold tires at the end of the race. no thievery, excuses or cool downs were needed for tesla.
reply

Either the European car companies have been ripping and abusing their customers or the Chinese are very efficient at manufacturing.
I think we have been ripped off for so long, why buy a super car for 200. 300k when you could destroy them with 55k car plus options and taxes, and they are only going to get better.

Remember 20 years ago when really everybody laughed at the Chinese cars and technology
See the time on the german nordschleife race track
The dominator su 7 ultra.
Fastest EV hahaa 4 seater.
no race history.
Poor porsche, bmw, mercedes and even luxury cars.
Start crying it will never end from now on.

Hang on, at 7: 58 the Xiaomi is already one car length in front of the Tesla but at 8: 00 is still one car length behind the Tesla and then at the finish line the Xiaomi won by just a bumper Do you think you can fool us with your we have to make it look like Mat lost by the narrowest of margins editing fakery, Carwow

Honestly extremely confused how the battery overheats from less than 5 drag races.
How did it manage to do 7 minutes on the Ring without overheating
Strange that the Tesla has no problem doing back to back drag races It's not like a radiator, that cools while driving, it is

When one reverse engineers the best car around and uses the best bits on their own car, you get this. However, the Xaiomi won't last as long. Revisit this car after daily driving for five years and see how it's going.
The Xaiomi is crap. Tesla for the win. Again.

This is why I don’t I trust Europe! The cost of living and the exploitation on brand is appalling. No need! Save your money. Look how good that Chinese car looks! That is fast! Well done China! Give them some credit. Western and European Carbon Ceramic costs! BS!

Tesla batteries were more designed for high torque performance. If you compare price point, it should be compared with the yangwang u9 from byd. Considering it is xiaomi's first car, at its price point, it has beaten Tesla hands down.
reply

9. 3/9. 5 is just insane, is there even a superbike that can do that now
Clearly the Xiaomi (shee oww me) is over-geared for the street, imagine if it had shorter gearing, might even get into the 8 seconds for the 1/4, holy smoke.

reply

while su7 is still an insanely fast, i feel like there is a limiter somewhere, it doesn't look like 1500hp compared to the plaid, in acceleration at least, the high speed test looked coherent knowing that air resistance isn't linear
reply

Matt was fuming & was trying to hide his hate for the xiaomi car so hard & trying to counter complement the tesla with anything but couldn't find anything other than 50k carbon ceramics that stopped by 1m diff xd
reply

Ferrari who After this I expect Ferrari and Lambo sells to drop very abruptly I can't forget musk's face and laugh when he said to the reporter: have you seen that car It is not a good product ISN'T IT
reply

When you see the wing on the SU7, it explains a lot. This may be similar in a drag race (more power but more weight and more air drag) but on the track, it will destroy the Model S (despite the higher weight.

I think the only thing holding the Asians back is communication. they have great and superior products but are just not able to sell it and make as much funfair as the west particularly American products.
reply

The Xiaomi would cost that much if you could get one. Real market price is much much higher than that. If the lap record was also with track tires it can not be compared to the Tesla on street tires.
reply

Carwow films never make a difference. You can also see it here in the middle of the race, the Su7 has already passed the Tesla twice before and the driver in the Su7 is always late with Lanserin.
