What? You didn't grind a flat in the cable stud to receive the allen screw? No Loctite?
Of course, a true geek would have pulled the cable, drilled a hole through the cable stud and used a roll pin.
I ain't gonna sleep for a week! ;-)

If anyone is looking into doing this fix: My Doggo's nail clippers worked perfect to chomp off that plastic on the release. (Disclaimer: I don't know if it's actually safe for the clippers, but mine were OK after I used them)

I assume their was installed loc-tite on the set screw, or you added such. I'd be interested in a Gas Cap cable failure replacement vid, LoL! A nightmare, usually.

Sorry Eric, but I didn't perform that performance upgrade. The little white car on the handle looks nothing like my 2003 Honda Civic 4 Door EX 5MT 1. 7L SOHC Engine Code D17A2.

Cutting that plastic off was a bh, thanks for the unscrewing it from the frame hack. Too hard to cut em'bs with out that tip. Had to go OCD route/CLEAN LOOK. Thank you, sir.

Any advice on how to fix the cable if it's broken on side closer to the bumper? My pull tab works just fine but the other end no longer latches on the mechanism.
