At 35: 02 I caught myself saying An Extension, grab a long extension! You can hold it down with your shoulder. Didn't realize that I was so Into it. Workin' Solo a lot you soon learn that a shop is full of Equalizers.
Edit- additionReferring to Bob, the re-builder. .. When I was a teen back in the 70's, there was a local re-builder that did starters, alternators, batteries and a few other items. His starters and alternators were actually put together and looked better than the manufacturers original and you could depend on them to work well and last. He would actually rebuild the one you brought in if you were trying to keep a vehicle original. The years went by and he retired then died a couple of years ago, leaving the business to his kids. Well, one of them could very well be Bob. You can't depend on anything from there anymore.

i know this is an old one but hella good one lol watching you push that piston back in to the dust seal had me loosing it you gotta take some time and watch yourself in this one again i bet you will loose to at the 53: 00 mark all i thought was studio 54 and the strange adult video store. I laughed so hard as I feel your pain truly been there and done that and wanted to kick the hell out everything with in arms reach sorry Eric lol but great video was absolutely the best free comedy hour in a long time from all the lube and inserting in screwing in the wrong hole, the bleeder that is lol! Keep it up and props for helping that guy out! This covid 19 has me watch alot of your older stuff. Stay safe!

You learned that you need long, LONG nosed and tiny pin snap ring pliers and maybe another special tool for this job. Thanks for not editing out more! Brave of you to tackle a job that lost you 4 fingernails on one hand, as a kid!

A 2-jaw puller holding in that socket might have done the trick to be your third hand while getting that snap ring into place. Threading it slowly while compressing, and using a pick on the wings of the cup to keep them out of the ring groove.

I think I would have got a narrow piece of scrap metal to fit across the ears, drilled and tapped it and threaded a bolt down to the socket to hold the spring compressed and both hands free to attack the snap ring

I realize this is an older video hopefully you will see this comment, I have been doing restorations, apple hydraulics can sleeve pistons with stainless, and Arizona hard chrome can repair those better than new.

Best part in the order of stuff is when doing this somewhere and some sucker comes along overnite or while you await parts and puts it all in a box so they can have the bench. Ugh! Later wish I had better notes

You could send the old piston and new one to Abom79 and he could make from scratch or repair it. He could take the new one and cut the inside or weld up and turn the old one. It would be another video.
