I once attended a Bosch mini seminar about their O2 sensors. Their factory rep told all of us about how important it is to use the square box connector that comes with the universal sensors. Reason being that their sensors do not have the little holes just above the sensor body. This is for reference oxygen (air) for the sensor to operate properly. The Bosch sensors get their reference air between the actual wires and their insulation. The plastic box allows the reference air to enter and travel down the wires to the sensor. He said never leave out the plastic box with Bosch sensors. Just something I remembered from a 2012 automotive seminar including many manufacturer's representatives.

The comment that the cat wasn't working quite how it should. How much would this be effected by the sensor asking for the wrong mixture profile? As in, is there scope for the cat to become more efficient as it cycles a few more journeys, perhaps warming up a little sooner and burning off any poor mixture choices, or is that all the customer is ever going to get performance wise?
what I like about Eric's show and tell, he could look at the scanner and say Yup. Duff lambda sensor but instead of that he tells why he's come to that conclusion. Good teaching day again.

Great Video. Intermittent 02 readings, with corrosion. In Calif,
the F450's in the fleet did not have rear 02's! 14000 lbs (gas) and higher did not have rear 02's! All OBD2 except for no rear 02's. The vehicle was tested as a 2 speed idle. F350's over 9, 999 lbs got 2 speed idle tests. These were 2000 through 2004. The fleet got new GM's and some Fords in 2012, I left in 2016. Smog Laws are such fun! ! (Sarcastically said)

Eric, can i ask you. with vehicles over 8600lbs do they turn a blind eye to monitoring some systems because they're worried about pulling Americas working fleet off the road? and give them a little more rope but private car owners, of which there are many, are scrutinised more keenly, is that how it works over there?

My friends 01 GMC savana 2500 is stinking and seems to run rich but now it won't start period and I tried starter spray it's not running I really need to talk to someone about this on the phone asap so I can help him and get paid for doing the work his short term on snapshot data was 19. 5 so what is going on

Which one is better heated oxygen sensor: Mitsubishi (40-90) versus Bosch universal or premium with 3 year warranty and functional up to 1000 degrees of Celsius (Fahrenheit/Kelvin etc. peoples can do their own unit convert or say it's about 27 times of your body temperature if you have 36. 9 C nominal?

That snap-on is super fast and responsive compared to everything else I've seen you use. I appreciate you using different tools. It illustrates what you get for your money. Also shows me that most problems can be solved with cheaper tools, which is good news for the shade tree mechanics among us.

FYI some of the GM trucks to go into PE immediately if at all. GM is saving fuel for the owner at the expensive of engine components. Think of like this, if the motor breaks look at all the fuel you won't be using which equals saving fuel, less carbon footprint, you get the picture.

that van doesnt have to pass emissions, so a guy could hollow the converters out unless that would screw up the computers, i bought an 07 express 3/4 ton and was pleasantly surprised no emissions necessary
