The GTA is back. Yup, the legendary acronym GTA has returned on the the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA. It stands for Gran Turismo Alleggerita in which, crucially, Alleggerita means 'lightened'. It's a heavily modified version of Alfa Romeo's Giulia Quadrifoglio, already our favourite super saloon car. Think of the GTA as the equivalent of a Jaguar XE SV Project 8 or the BMW M4 GTS. Only 500 will be built and there are actually two variants, the GTA and the GTAm. This is the latter, which is even more hardcore than the GTA because it has a roll cage where the rear seats used to be, race front seats with six point harnesses and has had even more weight removed. At a claimed 1540kg it's a full 100kg lighter than the QF. Full technical specifications are below. The Giulia GTAm, says Alfa, is a veritable supercar for everyday use. Is that so? Matt Prior takes it on a comprehensive road trip, from motorway to back road, to find out. Price: Approx -154, 000 depending on exchange rate (-176, 500 GTA, or -181, 500 GTAm) Engine V6, 2981cc, twin-turbo petrol Power 533bhp at 6500rpm Torque 443lb ft at 2500rpm Gearbox 8-spd automatic Kerb weight 1540kg Top speed 191mph 0-62mph 3. 6sec Economy 26. 2mpg CO2 244g/km

That amount of money for a Giulia with spoilers and some minor upgrades? - That is a bit much. - You can get a GT3 for that money. Crazy. - I understood why the Project 8 was so expensive because they build literally a new car around the cabin. - This car has not gone through a transformation like this compared to the Jaguar. - Even when you buy the best aftermarket stuff available it would not be more than 30K Euros. Don-t get it.

I love your reviews. So real-world. I don't drag race, and rarely track. The QV has captured my heart in a way that all my Ferraris, GT3s, and M3/M5s could not. I would like to buy one of these, but though I can afford it $250k is a bit rich when I think it's probably 110% of a QV.

I love almost everything about this except those wheels. They need to go. Older Alfas used to have such beautiful dial wheels, I don't know why these are not up to the mark. But apart from that, it's a beautiful car indeed!

No idea why people criticise Matt's reviewing style. You watch a car review to learn about the car, not to watch a fake, overblown personality, Talking -of- the car, what a beautiful machine! If I could buy one, I would.

Boring review and reviewer and with misconstrued info? Eg standard Giulia Quadrifoglio also already has a carbon roof and bonnet (from 2: 54 you even left it open); those suspension modes are also on the standard one!

I drive a Giulia Quadrifoglio and utterly adore it, so much so it actually belongs to me, not a finance company. In 80 odd cars I-ve enjoyed, it-s the one I rate the highest! The GTA-s Classic status is assured.

I still wonder why people buy BMW 3 series instead of the giulia, they sound better, faster, comfier and if you're going to burn money on an overpriced european car, atleast get a nice 1.
reply

You have to make sure Giulia bonnets are shut properly as they have a catch on both sides hence why the Bonnet on this GTAm is sticking up on the off side in some shots

Wing needs to go. Don-t see the point actually. Why would I want a 4-door with no rear seats? Cool as hell, just destined for a collection as a novelty item.

This guy and Harry's garage are the best reviewers to listen to early in the morning, sometimes you don't always want to hear shouting.
