What does 0-60mph in 3. 5sec, 208mph flat out, weighs almost two-and-a-half tonnes, costs nearly a quarter of a million pounds, and can lay waste to an overpriced toupee quicker than you can say drat and bother? The new Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible, that's what - and it's driven here for the very first time, on the island roads of Sicily. The GT Speed Convertible uses the same platform and advanced chassis technology as the GT Speed Coupe that we drove at Silverstone earlier this year. Like the coupe, it has four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering and a torque-vectoring electronically controlled limited slip differential, and it uses those systems to offer greater handling dynamism and driver appeal than any modern Continental-series car has before it. It also has a cockpit full of luxury ambience and opulent material lustre, four usable adult-sized seats, world-class comfort and refinement, and long-distance cruising manners that very few convertibles made anywhere in the world could equal. It-s spectacular. With that being said, I would only ever buy one if it had a 20 year bumper to bumper service contract, with all warranty service to be carried out by the Car Wizard at Omega Auto. You have to get more than a car, at this price point. It looks as though the front of hood (bonnet) is misaligned in the LF 1/4 view. It-s beautiful, but it seems more VW than previous models. I-m not bagging on VW, they are dominating the market, and if they-re smart enough to do that, they deserve applause.
